ChericanKhai, While there are many varied opinions about the proper length of a resume, if you are applying directly to hirers and targeting non-executive positions, two pages should suffice. After reviewing your resume, here are a few suggestions: -Do you actually need the AREAS OF EXPERTISE section on your resume? While you dont want to omit key skills or experiences, you should also avoid including superfluous information at the top...

Way to long. Your summary should not be your technical skill list. Drop education to the bottom of your resume. " Ability to work independently and also great team player." Never was a big fan of those statements. Everybody has it. You're wasting space on your resume with that. "Knowledge in utilizing ETL and BI tools like Informatica, Oracle BI EE, Business Objects, Crystal reports." "Knowledge in.." I...

I would research entry level positions in your field and customize them to those positions accordingly. The resume skill sets look more like they are geared toward a general IT support position than engineering. Focus/emphasize your experience with Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, I-DEAS, MATLAB.

Hello All; I am a recent college graduate, having majored in Mechanical Engineering and earning a Bachelor's Degree. I don't have any engineering experience, but I have had on-campus jobs as my only source of work experience. Therefore, I would, for all intents and purposes, be considered for entry-level positions (but I could be wrong). My overall and in-major GPA's are less than stellar (we're talking about 2.4-2.5 range...

As a first pass on revising the resume limit the number of bullet points per job to 3 or 4, change the laundry list summary to a brief 5-6 bullet points highlighting the most important qualifications reflected in the job advertisement, then reorganize the various sections in the order you think best expresses your qualifications. Are the technical skills list more important than work history for an experienced IT professional? No, so move it...

Dear Dr. Data, First, use a functional resume format or blended format, because it will emphasize your experience and technical skills and de-emphasize your employment gap. Its a better format for showcasing contract work, and you can omit the dates of your gigs, just indicate the duration of each assignment. Second, attend a boot camp, get a new certification, offer to do some volunteer work, so you can demonstrate that your skills are...

A bit long. I would shorten it. But more important than that, re-work the line items to show what you accomplished for the team, not just the technology that you used. Example"Improved response time of key PL/SQL queries by 50%", not "Extensively used TOAD and PL/SQL Developer for daily development jobs". A smaller number of line items that show real accomplishments, ...

NYStorage, What are the different titles youve held over the past ten years? Were you promoted during this time? While one can examine a resume based solely on bullets, it will be much more productive to understand the larger framework of your career and build a document around your professional and academic history. Do you have a current working version of your resume ...

The only time anyone may reference their GPA is mentioning an award and only briefly. Other than that, its not worth mentioning. Does your college not have a placement office to help you find an engineering job?

I see alot of "help with my resume" threads here. I had alot of trouble coming up with a good resume myself, and finally sought the help of a professional. Not only did I get a resume that I could never have written on my own, but I have gotten 3 interviews within the first 2 weeks of using the professional resume. It wasn't that expensive and so worth it! So I would ...
