the reason that you should not use drops in the ears of infants is because the Eustachian tubes drain upwards instead of down (mother nature's way of preventing breastmilk from draining up into the ears from the throat when laying down to nurse), so the liquid will just end up sitting in the ear and be useless. in most kids, by age 12 the canals have changed and drain down instead of up. i only know this because my ears and my dad's...

i have also had a HORRIBLE experience with ER doctors. My daughter went in with a high fever and I told them to check her for thrush as they were looking her over. I was told she did not have it. Then my ped. the next day said she totally had it bad (which is what I was sure of). mmmmm.....thrush is so common and they could not even recognize that?!? You really have to be proactive for your kiddos. I am glad you are all home. Two kids in the...

Soy is the easiest thing to get, but has its own issues for sure!! I would go easy on the soy if I were you. It mimics estrogen and can have problematic impacts too. That said I am one to agree that moderation is the key... so some soy is probably fine. Soy milks come in so many types. The one that most mimics milk is probably the refrigerated silk and also the vacuum boxed one at Trader Joes. Rice milks are sweet and yummy but not as full of...

Our youngest co-slept happily until 14 months when Daddy said baby had to go. He was right, our quality of sleep was way lacking as our bed was only a full. So what I did(I'd say "we" but I did all the work), was we started a new bedtime routine of reading a book & rocking in a chair & nursing. Then I would get him **almost** asleep and put him down in his crib. If he fussed or woke up, I would stand...

Hugs mama. It could just be a mucus-y fart or pre-poo maybe. The things that come out of my boy sometimes are weird! I have had a mucus-y dipe a time or two, it was usually when he hadn't went for a while. You do(we all do) have a mucus that lines our colon & bowels to help slide the poo thru our system, he may have just pushed some of that out without actually poo-ing.
Try google-ing "mucus in ...

My four month old is about 15 1/2 lbs and rolling but still likes to be
swaddled. Receiving blankets never did the trick. We like waffle weave
blankets.....very stretchy but strong. Have you tried only wrapping waist
down or with one arm out? Perhaps the blankets you have would still work
and she can slowly start weaning off the swaddling.

I have some Livie and Luca that I love, very similar flexible sole to SKR. Neither SKR nor the Livie and Luca are super waterproof though, like to wear to play in the snow - we've been wearing them for walks and the playground on cold days, but once it gets snowy we'll switch to something plasticky to really keep the wet out even though it won't have a flexible sole (something cheapish from ...

My kids have all loved Nuks. I am wondering though why you want her to nurse less? Newborns do nurse a lot, I know it can be annoying, but it is important to let her do so.

Does your family Do Santa?
I know santa is a very important part to some families Christmases and others feel it's an unnecessary lie.
Just wondering where everyone stands

Skinny 1 year old - conflicting advice, WWYD??
ds has been monitored since 4 months old by a ped due to slow weight gain. i don't think he's officially classed as failure to thrive but he is not gaining weight. he's been 19 to 20 pounds for about 4 months now.
I'll try to keep this short, but basically health issues have been ruled out...

Why not trucks and legos for your dd? I have two boys and a girl so I understand where you're coming from. DD is getting the new Hess Truck Christmas truck set since she loves last years, a play kitchen, puzzles, coloring stuff and new shoes and some clothes. The kitchen is awesome and from my mom so we're doing some playfood too but she has some already. Do you have a three wheeler bike for ...

I love these dolls b/c I grew up with them (I'm 27). I was originally planning to hold out until next Christmas to get DD a nice doll. She likes the "babydolls" that she has, and does use the cloth diapers, stroller, doll bed, etc...but she just isn't hard core into them yet. Elmo still rocks, lol! Typical 2 year old, so a bit rough with things, but I think more gentle than many of her ...
