79 this morning, after a bedtime 90. (At the risk of spoiling the streak, that's 6 sub-90s in a row.)

93 2-hrs PP Breakfast. Another pleasant surprise. This is normally my worst reading of the day and I regard anything under 100 as good, although it rarely goes over 110.

Semi off-topic, but I got a pedometer today from my MIL. I'm sort of excited. I put it on before dinner, and have walked (according to it) .75 miles. That sounds roughly accurate to me, as we walked up the street and took some pictures of a "wacky lights" house that I'm about to post in the picture thread.

It was indeed a serious question -- not meant to be facetious at all. I really do appreciate your kind, heart-felt and well thought-out response. Please understand that I sincerely respect your religious beliefs in the same way that I would respect your politics, your ideas on child-rearing or whatever. But by the same token, I may not share the same beliefs as you do. I may have a few more posts than you Joyce but I'd be very surprised...

Agree with the possibility of "induction flu" -- it takes the body awhile to get used to a ketogenic diet. To convert the body to use another fuel, so to speak. It's like taking a car that's always had gas and converting it to use vegetable oil -- those first few rides are rough! But eventually, it should all smooth out.

Excellent post, JPS. It is all about what you accustom your body to. You've been a lo carber/smart carber for quite some time. And to use a holiday as the litmus test for your conclusions there might be a bit of a stretch. It's good that you acknowledge that you were in heaven while eating it. That's honest. But I think if you would conclude -- from your experience that 'at Christmas' or next ...

Hi Kim, Welcome to the forum. I am a newly diagnosed (< four weeks) Type 2 myself. Regarding your question on reversibility. As I understand it, there is no reversing the illness just controlling it through diet exercise and, if necessary, medicine. It all has to do with the pancrease being worn out. From my readings I found that changing your lifestyle will do wonders and most ...

It sure CAN! I made a killer low-carb pumpkin pie, this year -- my first pumpkin pie, EVER and the best I have ever eaten, seriously! My peak at 3 hr was 134 ... not great, I was 128 an hour later so who knows what in-between. But considering, I will take it. This morning was 148 however -- a record DP measurement. Did not stop me from working on the leftovers, either though ... ...

I was looking at this as maybe a way to deal with the whole 1st phase problem. It reminds me of another drug that pushes the digestion of starches further down the intestinal tract with the usual attendant gas and possibly cramps. It has to be taken just before eating. I'm thinking that a small bolus would do about the same thing. Mike

Mitch, We are actually on the exact same meds. It sounds like you have experienced what has been referred to as a "Metformin Moment". From time to time it is possible to have a "reaction" to metformin, from me it comes for eating greasy/spicy foods. For me it starts as terrible stomach cramps and wind, followed by the world falling out of my arse. As for drinking with Metformin. I ...

Familiarize yourself completely(if you haven't already)with what glycemic index is. This factor along with carb counting are everything IMO. GI is an especially important aspect for type 2 diabetics who suffer from insulin resistance more so than inadequate quanity of insulin produced and/or inviable insulin.

Type 2 is, as I understand it, a number of different problems in one package. Bad Insulin: If your pancreas is making bad insulin, I don't think that can be cured in any conventional sense and I don't think T2s are eligible for transplant. Bad Absorption: If this is caused but too much fat in the way and you can lose weight and keep it off, then I guess that might be called a cure....

Definitely go in and get a rapid strep! This cruddy flu leaves you much more vulnerable to secondary bacterial infection. DH just got HIS second antibiotic (doxy, at my recommendation) for a COUGH!
