I agree with the premise - whatever works for you. I personally struggle when I eat over 200gs of carbs per day and prefer to keep it between 100-150gs. Only way to find out is to keep testing and looking for patterns.

Oh I forgot to mention, once opened its not recommended to refrigerate cause the insullin will burn like he!!. Keep a eye for any color change or crystallization in your insulin.

Ive read recommended minimums of carbohydrates at 150g and Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) at 300g so I'd suggest that 125g/day would be considered low-carb by many dietitians etc... I think that the keys are reducing arterial inflammation by reducing refined carbs AND reducing your insulin needs as I have read that higher levels of insulin have a direct effect on arterial tension which leads to higher BPs.

Well I'm a slight bit worried. I've been coughing like a maniac, but I had developed a bad cough a couple days before starting the medication. It's not dry or unnecessary, I'm coughing up a lot of stuff, but how am I supposed to know if I've developed THE cough? I guess the best thing to do is just stay on it until my allergies go away and see if Im still coughing?

When I went back on the pump, I was automatically shipped the Quick-Set infusion sets to use. I don't think that any of my very minor irritations with the sets I use are specific to this type, but I am curious as to what others preferences/experiences are with the various types offered. Thanks

I have bathroom issues too, but I also have Crohn's Disease. When I was first diagnosed, I took 15 units of Levemir at night. Now I take 30 units. It seemed like they would raise it by 5-10 units everytime I went to the doctor. They also increased the amount of NovoLog that I had to take. Like you, I began to feel ill whenver my sugar was in the normal range. I was told that I was in the 400-500 range for so long that my body just got use...

I wish they had made it in a much brighter/contrast color than the Humalog pen! Like a bright red or purple... I think I would wrap some day-glo duct tape around mine... I'm still using the OptiClik...I've learned to love/hate it. At least it's so clunky you aren't likely to reach for it by accident.

There should be no pain at all. You might feel a sting if the insulin is cold like been kept in the fridge. It might hurt if you hit a muscle or nerve but if it hurts for that long something is wrong and your doctor should have the decency to re instruct you to the proper procedure. Make sure you don't rub after injecting or you could end up with a nasty looking bruise. What size syringe are you...

You'll have to forgive me for being type 2. My doc also prescribed lisinopril when we first began treating my hypertension. He admonished me to contact him immediately if I developed a dry hacking cough which is common with some hypertensive drugs. I did develop "the cough", I did contact him. He changed my prescription to atenolol and it works well without causing a cough. ...

Interesting studies. I notice that I am able to keep my levels more even if I eat more low fat meals. However, I end up feeling hungry again sooner. Sometimes I just want to get something greasy! lol But when I do, I always end up high for the rest of the day (yesterday and today are great examples, gotta love the holidays). Hi Pkekich, I didn't get to welcome you before, so hello and welcome! Livers can regenerate, so good catch on your doctor's part. Hopefully all will be well and you will be on the mend soon. Cookie, I am so sorry for what you are going through. I am semi-newly diagnosed too. I had to go an anti anxiety medication for 6 weeks at diagnosis. I do know that it takes some time for you and your doctor to get to insulin dosage right. If your numbers are still that high, even with the insulin, then you need to contact your doctor ASAP. Are you taking both rapid and long acting (I'm ...

It depends on how much insulin you still make. Before the discovery of insulin, we had a life expectancy of two years.

Have you ordered a sample from Omnipod? I ordered a sample Omnipod and WOW, it is big, thats why I didn't switch to it. I believe if you go to their website you can order one. My sister has had a Minimed Paradigm for 10 years, and she is a preschool teacher, and hasn't had a problem with the kids pulling it out. Good Luck.
