Where to buy Inset II?
Published (2009-12-08 09:59:00)
I have heard a couple of points. Don't know how valid they are. 1) there is a window that allows you to see where the cannula enters the skin (this is the answer I got when I emailed unomedical) 2) higher power spring mechanism 3) different connector I don't see why Unomedical would have them both listed on their US site if it were the same thing. There's also an old thread here about it. Inset vs. Inset II

Minimed waterproof?

When my pump filled with water, there were no visible cracks. I would recommend not relying on your eyes to make this determination. Just don't go in the water with your pump on.

Help with winter basal!

Hey Chris, first it's good to hear your basal rates and cotrol have been humming a long so effectively. As for whether it's common to get seasonal changes in basal needs, I can't answer that, (I get it and have seen others talk about it, is about as much as I know) but the consensus from all good sources I ever saw including other diabetics and texts like John Walshes, is - simply do what you need to do. So if your basal rates...

Yep.... happens once in awhile. You probably hit a small vein and sometimes these cannulas work and sometimes they don't. You did the right thing.

Hi Michael, Have you actually ever done any basal testing? If not It would be a good idea to do some. If your basal is out then everything else is out. Also do you have the book pumping insulin by John Walsh? A very good investment if you don't have it.

I think giving it two days to see what happens before making another switch is AWESOME advice!

The ones I have do have a window, but since I've only been pumping 3 months, I couldn't tell you if anything else is different. They are called different things in different markets.

I will most likely not get pump after all. The pens are better for me. I'm not much on counting carbs like I should. Thanks, Rob

Chris, I am in the same boat with you. Although I live in the southeastern US, currently working in Ohio where it's getting frigid. Windchill this morning is close to zero.
Ever since the weather started getting cooler, my BG numbers have started to creep up. Especially my fasting, 137 this morning and it is usually in the 90's. This is with no change in eating habits.
I had a ...

Hi Michael. Just a couple of comments...
First, there is no real way for us to assess your dosages in any way shape or form. In general, 54u Bolus and 1.5u p/h basal are well within typical variation that I've seen on the site, on the higher side perhaps compared to what is quoted in book as the kinds of doses "typical" for a Type 1, (I am assuming you are, can you verify?) but that is just ...

How is it different than the Inset? I don't see a difference on the Canadian site.
According to this site, they are the same thing in the US: http://dandtheguy.com/2009/06/09/rev...- infusion-s et/

Yikes. That happened to me when using the 9mm; it rarely happened with the 6mm.
I hate it when that happens!! When I found what you found, I was NOT getting any insulin.

My MM rep says they are actually waterproof and they do cover water damage. It's a CYA liability thing. We have a local lifeguard that had his replaced due to water damage.
Do inspect it for cracks before swimming though.

I just got my ping too. I had no issues setting up the EZM with the
meter/remote. But because I didnt get the IR I cant say there, hopefully
Animas will send me the IR soon and I can tell you there. Oh, I am running
XP pro Sp3 on one PC and Windows 7 beta on another, no issues on either. If
you continue to have issues with the MAC OS and EZM, especially if you hear
it for other MAC users too, ...

Only had the CGMS and pump for slightly less than a year, but I've ended up settling on rotating the infusion all around my abdomen, (upper, lower, both sides and even love handles). I put the CGMS all around my thighs. I have problems with the infusion set in my legs so I've reserved the legs for CGMS and abdomen for infusion set. I've tried my tush for both infusion set and cgms, but don't ...

How odd that you had these problems. I have been pumping for almost 20 mths and use the cleos. Not one has peeled off. I find them very easy to disconnect as well. This is even though I have very bad OA in my finger joints. I have never been woken by my pump alarming either to tell me no delivery. You must have been very unlucky to have all these problems in one day.

Still have my Cozmo, but use my Paradigm 522 now just cause support and ordering supplies is less iffy. I loved my Cozmo and missed it dearly. Upgraded to 522 for the CGMS, which I never use now.

Hi metal, after trial and error of just about every theory and trick, including different set types, sites, ways of affixing sets, I had to accept that sets take anywhere from 2 - 8 hours to get started properly in me. On tope of this, I had to find the set type that worked the best for me. If you are having these issues it might be a breakthrough to try a few different set types. Troubleshooting...
