Bull Question

So, when you are about to blow your meal plan because of whatever and something you should not eat - do you sometimes blow it? Or you do immediately go for the powerlifting gym and channel your frustrations that way. (100%, most of the time, 50% of the time).

I don't put much into food anymore. I try to look at it as fule and building blocks. I don't beat myself up over food but I do try to keep my carbs in order for the Diabetes.

I have worn the CGM device from MM and if I remember correctly, it did help but it also had it's share of problems too. But I am going to try and get one from Dexcom in January or February and hopefully that will be better than my last experience.

Hi Everyone: This is the latest update on Linda's condition following the accident: First of all, many thanks to all for the positive thoughts, words, and prayers for Team Wells, especially for Linda. We went to the surgeon this morning and got the verdict on the full extent of the injuries. The 3-D CT-scan revealed that there are a lot of bone chips in addition to the one chip that showed up in the initial X-Rays. There is also a...

The thing that I find when I am cycling as a type 1 is that I tend to go high while cycling. The higher the intensity, the higher I can go. The liver is dumping glucose into the blood in response to the intensity. The muscles need lots of glucose and lots of insulin to use that glucose when cycling at a high intensity. The liver can hold about 2000 calories of glucose, so you should be able to ride with your friends without having to eat as...

Everyone is different on this. I ride on the road from 1 to 3 hours usually. Anywhere from 20 to 60 miles. I have found that if I just leave my basal running at normal and eat something every 45 minutes I am good. I will take a bottle of water and a bottle of carb drink and switch them back and forth. I check every hour or so. I rarely will bolus on a ride. I can usually do this and on a long ride of 50 miles or so I can consume an extra 100gs...

I cut back my basal to 75% to just play golf! If I go for longer runs or work out hard, I take the pump off. But I imagine you will be out more than an hour, so I'd leave your pump on and reduce basal to like 5%. Then for eating, don't do all fast-hit carb. Try to mix one of the energy bars into your diet. Clif bars, power bars, stuff like that. Something that you just don't burn through right away. There is no penalty to...

I don't know enough about the Omnipod. Back of arm would be bad. You have to look at the 3 lifts we do as Powerlifters. Bench press. The squat. Dead lift.

I am so jealous. I wish I could get motivated to ride daily. It is such a joy to peddle in a quiet, peaceful surrounding. The hills of nw NJ are just beautiful. I will ride to the gym in nice weather on a daily basis. There is just way too much traffic in this area and there is not enough time in the day. I live less than 1/4 mile from the gym but my route takes me on about a 2 1/2 mile loop. I ...

My comments are in the context of being fully Type 1/insulin dependent. In the case of endogenous insulin ability, I think other big factors come into play. If my BG is high on rising, I'm thinking along the lines of 9 or 160 plus for these comments, (lower I might do something else) I'll usually take a correction, and go about my business (whatever level of activity, must admit big ex usually...
