Quote: The pancreas is a gland organ in the digestive and endocrine system of vertebrates. It is both an endocrine gland producing several important hormones, including insulin, glucagon, and somatostatin, as well as an exocrine gland, secreting pancreatic juice containing digestive enzymes that pass to the small intestine. These enzymes help in the further breakdown of the carbohydrates, protein, and fat in the chyme Pancreas - Wikipedia,...

Splitting Levemir
Published (2009-12-02 07:35:00)
Basically, he says, neither Lantus nor Levemir is really a 24-hour insulin. When in testing, the makers used artificially large doses to make them last 24 hours--i.e., injected more than a truly basal dose, one that actually forced people to eat to avoid going too low. (He reports that 35, John Galway, of Eli Lilly, showed that he could inject enough regular insulin at one time to last a week.) According to the chart in his book, both...

This is an interesting one that spurned this whole idea. LDL and HDL Cholesterol: What's Bad and What's Good? Triglycerides
Triglyceride is a form of fat made in the body. Elevated triglycerides can be due to overweight/obesity, physical inactivity, cigarette smoking, excess alcohol consumption and a diet very high in carbohydrates (60 percent of total calories or more). People ...

I take Lantus every night around 9 PM, my basal dose over time has ranged from 15u up to 26u and I have never conclusively observed it running out on me, even on nights when I've had no dinner and therefore no bolus insulin providing coverage during the evening hours.
As you can judge from A1c results, I take controlling and knowing what's going with my body, insulin and food intake seriously.

It took me a while to get levemir dose and split working well for me, lots of messiness over the last couple of months, here's a summary of my journey.
I first based my dosage and timing on my basal profile. I learned that profile through the pump and basal testing, cgms etc. I don't have classic DP, I have a big wave of upward movement basically rising 11am to 5pm, droppping off suddenly - ...

My employer is changing our health insurance to Health Assurance PPO. Does anybody have this insurance, If so how has the insulin pump benefits been? I've been talking with our benefits coordinator but don't really know anything about this insurance. I did some online reading last night but could not find anything about pumps.
Thanks- Dave

Ran out of metformin today, and by this evening with a relatively low carb meal and doing all the normal things, I got a post meal spike from 100 to 230, and later hitting close to 300 apparently from the sheer weight of just breathing - and who knows when my correction is going to work - and the familiar sinking memory and sensation of how my blood sugar control efforts seems to (not) work ...

How many T2s really "just take a few pills"? Doesn't really seem the right way to preface the question.
My opinion is I can't even speak to fully understand the difficulty or lack of difficulty that other t1s have, so varied do the challenges seem, and so different are such things as how well the body gets along with insulin food, exercise, stress, and the degree that complications have ...

If you have to cut them please make sure you soak your feet or cut them after a shower or bath, this softens the nail. In my case I have Dragon claws and prefer to file. Dremel makes a little drill with different attachments for the really thick nail that many D type people have.
