Coffee with cream or milk?

thank you! I just know the amount of skim milk to make my coffee colour turn just right is quite a bit..so I was wondering if the cream may make a slight difference. Appreciate the opinions!

Quote: We used to eat low carb we did??? when was this??? The staple diet for most people in the west for the last god knows how long has been cereals. In medieval times in Europe the staple for the vast majority of people was bread. This was supplemented with weak beer (the only safe way to drink water), vegetables - peas & beans. Before the potato the ancestor of the parsnip was the main starchy root staple. Many people also had...

So I'm trying to go lower carb (not really low carb, but working on it!) and breakfasts are my biggest issue, at least on work days. I can't eat right after getting up, because it makes me sick. Been that way my whole life. So I get to school and teach a class, and have 2nd period (8:18-9) to eat. The other problem is that my resistance in the morning is ludicrous. Even 20g of carbs, properly...

Thgs morning I came across the term and a brief description of the Chinese Restaurant Effect . The way I understand this phenomenon is that if you eat too much of a "free food," such as broccoli, your blood sugar can rise substantilly. Does anyone have experience with this and be able to comment on the effect? I'd really love to get some first hand accounts of this. Thanks!

So much been said on the forum about carbohydrates, I get a little confused with the varied methods, on how carbohydrates are being used with our daily diets. To understand the condition diabetes I need to know more about what role carbohydrates plays to make a good choice diet. Can someone explain some of the science behind these healthy foods and explodes some of the negative myths ...

Yes everyone is different. If I am eating a bowl of porridge (and I mean the large flake kind), or a slice of stone milled whole wheat bread, or kidney beans, veggies, etc.) I don't bolus at all as they are all low GI foods. However, for the occasional cookie, or piece of cake, or any high sugary foods, my ratio is 1:4 unless I am low to start with - then it's 1:7. For correction dosages I ...

Hello everyone! I haven't posted in what seems like forever, but I have some interesting things to have come up. I had blood work done back around the 1st of July. A1C was 7.3, cholesterol was 201. Just had it done again a few weeks ago and A1C was 7.3 (again), but cholesterol was down to 164. I don't take any cholesterol meds, but I've been low carbing since around the end of August. I've lost ...

I'm sure this is a quick thread - is it better to have cream in your coffee or milk in your coffee, to not have a big effect in your readings? I know I should experiment myself, but frankly I'm scared to death of my numbers as a newbie, and don't want to rock the boat at all anymore. From what I've read, it's better to have higher fat dairy (if you're having it) but I get all confused ...

I'm familiar with a few bread products that are low glycemic or low carb: Ezekiel 4.9 , Alvarado Street Bakery Low Glycemic Bread , and La Tortilla Factory high fiber whole wheat (and other) tortillas. Does anyone know of any other breads that may fill the bill. I'd like a little more variety, and a friend, who is an old lady with brittle diabetes, would like something besides the ...

Yeah, that's right I said pterostilbene. Well, actually, I typed it, not really sure how to pronounce it yet. So what the heck is pterostilbene? Oh yeah, you could google it (and you probably should), but I'll spill it. Pterostilbene is a phytochemical or phytonutrient. It's one of thousands of antioxidants found in plant foods - which are mostly carbs. That's right carbs. Evil ...
