Daily Carb. Budget

I think you need to look at total carb content, not just the sugar. I try to keep most meals in the 10-20 carb range with a couple of 10 carb snacks. If I'm exercising I will eat a higher carb/protein snacke before or after exercise. A lot of your carb count depends on where your blood sugars test. You want to stay between 120-140 , 2 hours after a meal.

I'm a 30 -45 -30 and a 15g snack. Sometimes I don't have dinner so break the last 30 into two 15's, so 30-45-15s-15s-15s. I try to keep my meals 4hrs or more appart, and snacks at least 2.5 hrs but prefer 3hrs.

Daily Carb. Budget

When I was first diagnosed T2 ten about ten years ago, my nutritionist put me on the ADA (American Diabetes Association) food exchange program of 45 grams total carbs per meal, with the addition of vegetables at lunch and dinner, about another 10 grams altogether. My proteins were 1 ounce at breakfast, 2 ounces for lunch and 3 ounces for dinner. Fats were limited, too. This works out to be a 1,200 calorie per day diet as well. It was very...

Peanuts Too Close to Dinner...
Published (2009-12-12 22:11:00)
I've been noticing that whenver I eat some nuts between lunch and dinner, I lose my appetite. Does anyone experience this? I can't be the only one. Or perhaps there is something wrong with me. Usually, it's roasted peanuts or redskin spanish peanuts (both salted). When I have about 15g of these, I immediately lose my appetite. For example, if I have some redskin spanish peanuts too close to dinner, I have to almost skip dinner....

If possible I eat at one that has a "grill" you can then have them grill up a plate full of vegi's and meat and YOUR choice of sauce.
hot and sour soup is one serving of carb
they usually have green beans
they usually have boiled shrimp
go with the meat that is not breaded
I usually eat mostly vegi's and eat off the top of the pan to minimize the sauces
I had found the soup in one of my ...

I think there is some contraversy over drugs like you are taking. This class of drugs overstimulates the pancreas to produce insulin. Lots of time they produce too much insulin which causes the lower bg numbers. There is also some questions whether higher doses may lead to pancreatic cell burnout. Many T 2's have difficulty with morning fasting numbers because of DP ( dawn phenomenom). ...

Ruasted chestnuts have 4.4 grams carb in each nut. They are pretty high. Here's a link to the info about them: http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/n...43/4?mbid=N DNL
BTW,, why would you ever microwave a chestnut anyway? There's nothing like the smell of fresh chestnuts roasting!!!

Since I try to stay under 75 carbs a say I allow 25 cars per meal. Some meals are a bit more, some are less. Overall I rarely go over the 75 per day.

I tend to eat a lot of nuts during the day as snacks, they are the one food item that keeps my bg in a good range. I tend to eat small amounts at meals to avoid spikes so I will eat more snacks and mini meals throughout the day. I think it is a combination of the fat and the fiber that makes you feel full. I find celery with almond butter also fills me up.

When you buy your "free range beef" what do they mean by that? That they are guarunteed to only eat grass and no grain? I am very picky about my meat and only by it in a certain store. I was raised on home grown beef and I prefer the grain fed. I know it is higher in fat, but I feel that is what gives it it's flavor. I have tried grass fed beef and don't care for it, and find it not as ...

Nice results on the brown rice! I have a small sack of the stuff (25 lbs) that I cook up at times to stop the rice cravings in me (I grew up eating rice at almost every meal).
But do you only eat it boiled to a mush? Unless you are making a soup or a type of porridge, an hour or more is way too long to cook it.
Consider investing in a rice cooker. You should be able to pick up a small one...

I don't care for kale, but tis the season for it. If you like it you should also try Bok Choy and/or Pak Choy. Those are even good raw Glad you met a new food, and it's working for you!
