Something like wizards for Windows. Ideally I'd like to create an installer which knew how to setup SQL tables, create all application files, set permissions and last but not least, delete the installer file. Does anyone know of a project like this?

Quote: I'm aiming more towards something full featured like SAP then some "ERP" If I may offer a piece of advice, as business information management is my core business (my start-up - Octabox ), if you're are thinking building something like SAP or a full fledged ERP of any kind alone - I suggest you rethink it. It will be a ton of work, and making those programs have any kind of intuitive flow and UI requires a...

One thing to keep in mind...it seems at least to me that when you create proprietary software, you have to arm up against the software patent trolls. But make it GPL, and they can't sue you for something you don't actually sell. You would think, at least. And recently, that seems to have held up in court. Also recently, it seems software patents got a major blow in the courts (thank goodness!) and now if it's not tied to...

Check out flowplayer! It's a great little flash video player. You can use ffmpeg or another program to convert your video to FLV to use with it. http://flowplayer.org/

I'm thinking about open sourcing Ne8 / Metator ( my projects ), if I save just a few people the trouble I'm going thru with the other open source platforms it would seem worth it, and the publicity Id get for making an open source store would be huge ( look how many users online @ magento / posts on their forums they have ). I might know 1 or 2 aspiring open source developers too Plus who ...

I want to setup some issue tracking software to replace Arctic and a few others I use on occassion. I need: 1. RESTful API to programmatically insert new tickets 2. Ability to make some tickets private so only I can see them 3. Ability to have registered users report issues 4. Wiki integration would be a bonus 5. Easily themed/skinned to fit my web site design or something similar Does Trac ...

I love PHP, but I've also been reading about using PHP as the "glue" to piece together components compiled in lower level code, etc.. I'm thinking about playing with a lot algorithms that might be CPU intensive and thus a candidate for a compiled language. Most likely I'd create a library of separate utilities that can work together on the shell, and just use PHP to glue these together with ...

I know php can draw graphs, but they are not the best looking. Flash and Flex do a much better job, however, they usually cost a lot. I found Fusion graphs which look great and cost the earth. Does anyone know of any other graphs that look good but dont cost the earth? (i.e. $400 or less) Cheers

Hi Everyone I may be in the wrong topic here, but I'm not seeking a full time employee - I just wanted to get in touch with anyone in the UK who would be prepared to sometimes spare me some of their attention (will pay as and when require), occasionally with some project I have taken on. I am still fairly new to PHP, but it's my 'growth area'. Was looking for someone to work with, who has a few...

I need to play a sound for an instant chat implementation. I wanted to use a Flash control but none met requirements so I started from scratch. I recall there being a flash control you could embed into a web page and triggor it to play sounds, either at intervals or events. I can't seem to find it on Google, anyone know of something which I can program via an API to play sounds for me?
