Rounds them all out better for me. You know, I saw Walter on a re-run of the Last Lord of the Rings trilogy. He has a great knack for playing insane characters - love that actor.

Hero worship is a common problem in "libertarian fiction". Robert Heinlein’s book The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress once gave many budding libertarians their first taste of "freedom philosophy". In theory, this "classic novel... of libertarian revolution" is suppose to be about how independent, square-jawed frontiersmen who have colonized the Moon escape for the corrupt control of a collectivist Earth. In reality,...

You should also seek out his blog - he deals a a lot with open society issues and futurism.

Phillip K. Dick? I'm not certain if he was explicitly leftist, but I would definitely say he was virulently anti-fascist. Norman Spinrad? Equally anti-fascist (his The Iron Dream is a must-read, as is Child of Fortune). Bruce Sterling? Neal Stephenson? And who could forget George Orwell?

I also like the way it is filmed. There isn't nearly as much jerky hand held filming while in close up, which is a constant thing in Battlestar Gallactica for instance. I feel Farsworth is there as Walter's tool. It seems like he pulls something over her on every show, or, if he doesn't, an accident occurs which makes it look like he did, or, she was conveniently sent away at a crucial moment to allow Walter to be abducted, or...

so much that I'm still upset that Charles is dead, body discarded in that furnace. Oh, the agony But Dr. Bishop who is definitely on the fringe is my favorite. I think Olivia is very cool and smart. I do wish they'd get into assistant Farnsworth a bit, she's very clever but seems like a loose end to me. I was really intrigued by that kiss between Broyles and Nina Sharp - veddy interesting. ...

My recollection is of enjoying it at the time, however I'm far from sure I would enjoy it as much now. I think that the giants of the "Golden Age" don't actually measure up that well against the talents of contemporary authors. They were the groundbreakers of their time, but the field has just progressed.
