WIth the Trend Micro I have pre-installed from Dell the serial number isn't on the CD sleeve - it only shows up in the program itself. So it's a catch-22 - can't get the serial number without the program installed, and can't install the upgrade for Win7 without the original serial number. There is a nuclear option: If the upgrade was from Vista, the...

As you ordered the software as an extra, I believe that you should have received it on CD (in addition to it coming preinstalled). Generally the CD sleeve will have the serial number on it. If you never received the CD or have lost it, you may be out of luck. That said, post back if that's the case and I will see what I can find out.

I JUST did the uninstall for the 3rd time, and this time it took. Only I used the last option available (install on a new computer or something like that). I also used IE instead of the superior Chrome and it seemed to make the download file a bit happier.

Spent half an hour with both IE and FF, same result. Btw, if any laptop owners out there have a bulge in their keyboard you may want to remove the keyboard and look under it. I did and found a wad of masking tape of all things wrapped around a keyboard connector.

Thanks for the info, Mightily unimpressed as I thought one of the features of Windows 7 was that, unlike Windows Vista, it would run all your old software back to the Windows 95 era. Seems to me that Windows 7 is no better than Vista and I may end up installing Windows XP professional (I have the XP discs). I've tried Windows LiveMail that comes with Windows 7. Not impressed - no facility to import the thousands of e-mails and...

Thank you for your reply but unfortunately it did not solve the proble, I got an error message saying "failed to find update file". Also to add to the original post I'm using a 64 bit system, and the error message is "An unhandled Exception Occured, Application will Exit" As for the second part, I was able to see the recovery partition like you've suggested.

Greetings. I encountered the very same issues/questions. Here is the resolution:
Open up Windows Explorer
Navigate to – “C:\program files\Dell Datasafe local backup\components\dsupdate\dsupdate.exe”
Double click dsupdate.exe to manually update the application
It will update to the new version of Dell DataSafe Local and install a patch.
Per your second issue regarding the ...

Dell Data Safe is an online backup subscription service that you have to pay for after the trial runs out. You don't use that to burn a system recovery disk. To make a system recovery disk, type Backup and Restore in the Start box, start Backup and then select Create a system repair disk. Follow the directions. This makes a bootable dvd for recovery.

I have the same problem - sort of. I have a Dell 1440 (64-bit) Inspiron that came with Vista Home Premium SP1 and I just installed Win 7 Home Premium. Most everything works except for Dell Dock. There is a 64-bit version of Dell Dock installed on my machine but it crashes on startup. I went to the Dell Dock ( Stardock) site and they state on the site that support for Win 7 will be available on 10...

Office 2000 is incompatible with Vista and windows 7. Windows XP will probably not run on your new computer. The new hardware on the new computer will not have XP drivers. See if you can find a copy of Office 2003 Student and Teacher edition--that has Outlook 2003 and Word, PP and Excel. That works fine. You should uninstall the trial edition of Office 2007. If you didn't click on the trial icon...

I also had this same problem after upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7 on my laptop. After looking for a solution I found that Dell has the windows 7 version of Quickset available on their website. If you go here, http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.as px?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs and choose your model of computer, and also select the correct operating system once you have the ...

See if anything in this thread helps (toward the end) - need to be using IE, have . net Framework 3.0 (which should already be in Win7, but might as well check), and see if crazi_joe's suggestion to use compatibility mode helps.

On this forum "new message" is the same thing as "new thread". Each thread on a forum is basically a written conversation about a single topic. You've started your own thread about MIcrosoft Money, and I decided to answer by clicking on "reply" at the bottom of your post. You should get an email with my reply, then you can just click the link and come back and reply again. Or, if you ...
