Ok, I am a little new to these Dell Powerconnects and switching is not my strong suite so stay with me. I have vlan routing enabled and I need to push my Web servers out to my DMZ and in doing so I want to restric access from these boxes to my trusted side. Vlan2 is my production server area and Vlan5 is the DMZ; Web servers need to access SQL db in the trusted area. I can simply ...

Since we installed one of our offices, we have had repeated data corruption issues. We have now determined that the basic cause is the PowerConnect 5424P emitting keep alive calls that can't be handled correctly by the Time Warner Versapak router for a standard office T-1. We are in the process of downloading the 368M application to manage the 3424P, but I would like to know ...

Hello, Help. I'm trying to trunk 2 6248's together. One is the main (distribution) switch, the other is just a L2 (access) switch. Actually, I'd like to make them into a stack, but they are separated by a single copper cable in 2 different closets. - Is there a way to still make them a stack? Anyway, what I need help with right now is that I can't seem to get trunking ...

I'd like to backup our 6248 Switches ( Version 2.1.14) via snmp and tftp I've seen this solution for a 5324 but it doesn't seem to work for 6248: http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/m essage?board.id=pc_managed&message.id=7420&query.i d=166585#M7420 So what are the OIDs I have to use? Thanks Thilo

Anyone out there have an 802.1X config they can share? I am specifically looking to implement 802.1X on a Powerconnect 3548P or 6224P with the Juniper Networks IC4500 which uses Steel Belted Radius for the auth server. I currently have a config on the Powerconnect but it is not working correctly. Thanks.

I have a Dell 3248 switch that I would like to attach to two NLB'd ISA firewalls. I would like to avoid the port flooding associated with unicast NLB and I'm not wild about installing a hub as a concentrator. That leaves me with setting up NLB in multicast mode or multicast with IGMP mode. However, I'm having a really hard time determining if this switch would support such a setup...

Hi we recently bought Procurve 1800 switch to be backup/failover switch to Dell Powerconnect 6224. According to our plan these two switches will provide us failover capability to our ISCSI network which include Virtual servers, SQL database and exchange database. Now we have setup these switches with few vlans and created link aggregation for HP port 1-3 (trunk 1) and Dell Port2...

I want to do port mirroring but the destination port cant be a member of a VLAN. By default all ports interfaces are members of the VLAN1. How do I remove one interface/port from VLAN1 membership thus making it not a member of any VLAN. This port will then be used as a destination port for port mirroring? hendy

I'm struggling to understand which of the various options I need to configure what I should be a basic VLAN setup. Hopefully someone can give me a nudge in the right direction. Connected to a PC3424P I have some Cisco 7971 phones, an Asterisk PBX, the file server, router and an uplink to another switch. The ports are currently utilised as follows: 1-11 Cisco 7971 phones...

I'm not a "network guy" so I apologize in advance for the dumb questions. I really don't know what terms I should be searching for, otherwise I would have searched. Here's the background - We have a 6224P switch. We have 2 networks - say, "Office" and "Production". All clients on Production reside on the 6224P switch. We do have a physical connection to Office. Here's the ...

Hi All, I have been looking into 2 x 6224F to replace our 2 x 6024F switches, I am interested in the stacking features now that the units can support up to 24 static lags with the latest firmware. I have a question on how the stacking works and how much bandwidth the stacking modules deliver. The Dell web page claims the stacking module is upto 48Gbps but the interface is ...
