The two that I would like to see win some awards were Inglourious Basterds and A Serious Man. For the most part, the films I saw this year were not very impressive, but there were a few standouts (Watchmen, Star Trek, ect.). Of the films that was actually able to not walk out of because of sheer boredom, Basterds and A Serious Man stood out as two of the best films from this decade to me.

Not that I'm against mainstream. I'm looking forward to Brothers.

I liked the film of Watchmen a great deal. Snyder's portrayal of the novel was done so well that his reenvisioning of some aspects, such as the costumes or the end, added to my appreciation of the novel rather than deeming the film as one of unnecessary modifications. Some of what amounted to the most significant changes in their affect were insignificant changes/additions to the novel-like Rorschach's gravity-defying leaps, the Nite...

I wanted to see A Serious Man so bad, but it didn't to a theater close enough to me.
