On a side note, I was able to get a non-hacked tivo hard drive and the tivo works fine. Now it's back to trying to fix those iptables on the other hard drive. It was a huge relief that I didn't screw up the tivo itself.

They aren't blank, they just use a file/partition system a normal pc cannot ordinarily detect

Ok, i know I have the correct settings in my author file. I have 6.2 dsr704. I think my serial cable is damaged some how, because all I get in output when I hit enter is weird characters such as >.... b with two colons above the b. weird stuff as such. How can I manually test the serial cable with a meter while connect to the tivo??
