Yes, it's probably time. I'm procrastinating. I have no idea how fast the hearing loss will take in my case. I have mixed feelings about it.

Hmm.. a first post in your first thread in a Deaf/HH/Hearing forum? Not a great first impression on your part, honey. What ticks me off about people in general is their blatant ignorance towards the Disabled community- they know they must extend courtesy but will not because they think only for themselves. Now that ticks me off. How about that instead of making a blanket statement ...

Yes indeed. Usually , people will beat you up if you spell incorrectly in net speak, as that is the most disrespectful thing to people who grow up as whole word readers. I know it induces rage in me. And if you stop in the middle of something, people will usually just try to determine if you are drugged or senile.

Here is another one..... I hate it when a hearing person comes up to my ear and then talk out loud into my ear like I should be able to understand what he is saying to me. I may be deaf but it does hurt when someone screams into my ear.

I like listening to thunderstorms and music, but I'm hearing impaired... When it comes to wearing hearing aids, my experience is that a hearing aid is just a compensator for correcting frequencies due to hearing loss on certain frequencies. I mean, it didn't help to improve how I can listen word-for-word. I tried to get use to it but the soft static with harsh tones (mid-to-high frequencies...

People don't seem to understand that they are dealing with other people, and not things, when they are shopping. Like today, I went to an electronics department guy in the Wal-Mart, and I asked him where the digital photo frames were. He said, "They're in the PhotoLab." I didn't hear him so I asked, "Sorry?" Then he repeated himself, looking quite pissed. I actually didn't understand him...

Is that legal using peanut butter as a mean of teaching one's speech? Bet that would have been disallowed today due to allergic kids.
