BTW, the government scientist on the beach made me laugh out loud. He had a bunch of sea shells in the sand, half were white, half were black. He said the black ones represented cool yearrs and the white ones were wamr years. He said in the last 100 years we've had a pretty even split, but in the future there'll be more warm years than cool, and he started to remove the black shells. Based on what exactly? Take away the debate about 'good science' and 'bad science'. Take away the battle of egos. Let's even ignore the monopoly of data sourcing and biased editorial control. Forget those core issues. Now ... let's consider just ONE element of all of this. The sustained and repeated collusion amongst those in a position of trust/authority to destroy and/or hide data that is subject to the FoI laws. Enough said.
