I agree that the CenterStage building is ugly - but it was designed as a segue to the stuff they just propose.

A Restoration Hardware or even a Home Depot would be awesome for downtown, but let's face it: downtown retail needs to appeal to the CBD office workers first, and residents second (130,000 potential customers versus 6,000).

I think he has been holding back on this one because he got such negative push back related to selling Criswell College and other assets just to build him a new TV studio.

This is typical of Dallas' inability to deal with anything that is not shiny and new. And of course, it's not as if anything will be built there in the current economy. So... parking lot or weed garden. "Ah - sweet relief. Another Dallas controversy solved with a day of bulldozing".
