I just finished cutting together Teresa Decher's Twilight fest project and it was recorded using my sound gear (MKH50 through a SD302, recorded on the Red) and by a very capable, but new sound team. Editing the dialogue this mic gets is such a pleasure, so damned natural and clean, I just love it! Unfortunately, I rented it out and somehow the renter dropped the mic onto concrete (he ...

Hey guys... we have an opportunity... probably a limited one, but I think a bunch of us could get a Rode blimp system at a great price if we have a long-standing, trustworthy member in Australia who wants to help and also get one for him/herself... (or even help and not get one). Bottom line is this... while I think the new Rode Blimp system looks really nice... the USA sellers are totally ...

My D50 is brand new...primary use is recording FX for video and movies and it works, small and unobtrusive in public. Up to now I've been evaluating everything on 7506 cans and they sound great. The internal 120degree mic setting sounds good, I think that'll be the best setting for a surround submarine movie sequence I'm working on, control/engine room etc. All 48khz at 16bit. But now, ...

1.) When should sound blankets be used? I am new to sound recording and will be doing simple shoots consisting of a camera focused on me while I speak through a Countryman earset connected directly to the camera. The room has carpet on the floor and stucco ceilings. There does not seem to be lots of echo in the room. What do you base the decision to use them on? 2.) I can't imagine it making...

I'm researching mic equipment for a film school, and I'm asking for advice. We're looking at buying about 15 audio kits. There are 3 criteria that I consider most important: 1) Affordable: Not stupid cheap, but not high-end either. The more we can save per unit, the more units the students will have to check out. 2) Good performance: For the most part, these are first time ...

I just got my new Oktava 3 cap mic MK012 and have been testing it out all night. I'm really wanting to see what you've film/recorded with it. Please feel free to post anything (clips, audio files, BTS photos, etc..) !! .

Day two: All exteriors around a very nice house in a very nice lakeside community. Very hot day too. All of the pre-lunch stuff involved following someone skulking around the house, so just wireless boom and one lav. No biggee, although we had some intermittent leafblowing, lawn stuff, etc., going on that was irritating. After lunch things got a lot more hectic as we were doing more ...
