I recently read something that Criterion only started securing rights to release films on Blu-ray shortly before they released their first wave of titles. So Criterion would have to purchase the rights from Universal to produce a Blu-ray version.

Yeah but will they be good releases overall? I'm very sad Ran isn't with Criterion.

I'm not sure if id be able to go up another $100 or not. I'll know exactly how much I can afford after Christmas. But for the time being, ill be watching for if there's any good deals for 32" sets that are close to the $300 range. For now though, id like to keep my bases covered by learning what I can as far as 26" HDTV's, and if it turns out I can get a 32", then I can apply that knowledge there.

To the poster (above the above poster): I seriously doubt it is anything other than the regular PG-13 release included inside a slip-case box.

I just bought an LG player last night from Best Buy for $129 (online deal, did in store pickup). It loads quick-ish, is dead silent and does Netflix and a few other online services. Playback is fantastic and it doesn't sound like it's eating a small child when it opens (the Samsungs do, ...
