Quote: Why "Just Buy ANY HDMI Cable" Advice is Wrong
Sort of I decided to write this article the first time I saw another writer say "HDMI is digital - it either works or it doesn't." Then I saw that statement get repeated
over and over. The problem is that HDMI isn't like a digital coax audio cable - it can degrade partially and produce sparkles and snow. We'...

When switching a PS3 from HDMI to rca or component cables it won't automatically switch it's output. So, if say you take your PS3 to a friends house and plug it into his hdtv through his
HDMI cable. Then you bring it back to your house and set it up through your rca or component cables and turn it on you won't see anything. You might be freaked out at first then realize that it must have changed...

I'm getting a new HDTV for Christmas. I'm still not sure whether I want a plasma or an LCD. It must be 1080P, 46" or more, have 3 HDMI. I will be using it for everyday tv watching(sd programming right now), movie watching and occasional video game playing. I'm looking for something around the $1,500 range. But really the lower the better as my wife has $1,000 it in her head for whatever reason. ...

When I worked for Best Buy, we used the Key Digital DH-12 and the KD-CDA12 distribution amps for the Plasma and
Projection TV displays before they all had ATSC tuners built in. I can tell you they are built solid, and perform well. I have never used the HDMI boxes, but if they perform anywhere close to their component vdeo boxes, it will make you quite happy... j

While many (myself included) have not had any problems with HDMI cables wiggling or
slipping out, there are also many who have had this happen. And many have wished that there was a locking type capability for HDMI cables. Well two companies have come out with HDMI cables that offer locking ends. And the best part is, while not exactly inexpensive, they are not super expensive either. And ...

On the actual unit, only Dolby Digital & dts logos are seen. I've listened to
Linear PCM tracks & Dolby TrueHD tracks. The LPCM titles display on the unit but the TrueHD ones are displayed a standard Dolby Digital. 3/2.1 Also to make things more confusing, my receiver bitstreams TrueHD when selected. I thought this second-gen player at least did TrueHD. My receiver does not ...
