You want Tempest 3. Barbarian gives you +10% running speed. Fighter gives you extra feats and +1 Str an level 2. Maybe Ranger18/Barb1/Fighter1. Extra feat and +10% running speed. Barb2 sounds fun. Fighter2 is more efficient. You can never go wrong with more feats and Strength.

According to what Samadhi and Braegan said, I'd assume it'd be safe to switch out, and Rapiers, not being marked Light, do indeed...

The only reason I would take this is if it was as a prereq for say tempestIII. The extra to hit is just not needed in most circumstances.

With 12 ranger levels, you have no need for so much dexterity; you get the twf feats for free even if you don't meet their stat requirement. Drop some dex and get more strength. You're not using a finessable weapon, after all.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression the 10% competence
ranged alacrity from the Gilvanor's set didn't stack with the ranger
capstone.

So I was thinking of splashing Barbarian with my ranger
So I have a dwarf TWF ranger with dwarven axes. Was thinking of splashing a few levels of Barbarian..For rage and uncanny dodge. Question is how many levels. just 2 so that I can keep tempest 3 or is it worth going a few more levels in barbarian?

Rangers get martial weopons proficiency so you get longbow for free anyways. Elves however get longbow enhancements. Drow could possible be better if you are doing levels of pally and/or rog.....but I doubt it. I would make my stats like this for a ranged ranger:
16 str
18 dex
13 con
12 wis
8 int
8 cha
Don't bother with umd unless you splash rog. I wouldnt do shot on the run. I ...

1. Be warned that training feats to improve ranged combat o a caster is basically a mistake in DDO.
2. Going for Manyshot would be superior to the alternatives, as it gives you a powerful ranged attack for 20 seconds... and then you can forget about ranged for 2 minutes and just do your spells, until you see something you want to kill with arrows again.
