Tivo Questions

Whirlpool Forums seem to be the default home for TiVo owners with the guys that sell the TV in Australia often posting/listening to feedback there. It maybe a worthwhile place to have a look see. In relation to your questions, have a read of these two (older) reviews of the Home Networking Package QUOTE The TiVo Desktop Plus software is simple enough to navigate... One nice touch is that you can opt to transfer titles individually, or tell...

QUOTE (tonymy01 @ Dec 13 2009, 05:33 PM) Later means "after the timer has finished" regardless of any usage. You want to choose the "no" option to "are you sure you want to stop your recordings". Regards Thanks, I kinda figured that, however isnt that sort of daft functionality? I mean, it should be smart enough to see that someone is actually using it and not turn itself...

The Hd Pvr Comparison
Published (2009-12-13 19:29:00)
You can connect just about any PVR to a DVDR (using composite cables). After you've recorded your shows on the PVR just hit PLAY on the PVR and REC on the DVDR and the show will be 'transfered'. Helps to have a DVDR with a hard drive as you can edit it a bit on the DVDR (after being transfered) Regards Peter Gillespie PS LTM, wanting to send you a PM but you have yet to reach 5 posts. QUOTE (Beast @ Dec 12 2009, 12:45 PM) The HNP comes with a desktop plus key which I have and I also purchased an additional key for another PC. I have not entered this key anyway as Im not sure if I need to?? I don't know, but I strongly suspect that you might, since the page I linked to says that WMVs AVIs, etc can only be transferred if you have the desktop plus key. I don't understand why you seem reluctant to...

Topfield Masterpiece Hd Trf2400

Have purchased a Trf2400: so far, well pleased with the unit as a PVR - will post some more detailed comments when I feel confident with its general operations. In the meantime, a query re. some quirky behavior of HDMI (which is the connection I am using to connect the Topfield to my Sony Bravia 46" LCD): Now and then, if I am viewing something on the PVR, and then switch to the TV tuner (doing this to compare picture quality of...

QUOTE (tonymy01 @ Dec 8 2009, 08:48 AM) Is that "No Signal" message a TV one due to no HDMI, or a Topfield generated one due to no RF on that channel? You can test to see exactly what the Topfield one looks like by pulling the antenna plug from it while watching TV (ensure it isn't recording something at the time that you want to keep!). I wonder if this is the "green screen"...

QUOTE (diesel @ Dec 13 2009, 09:32 AM) That's an odd thing for a PVR to do IMO. The recording name should be the name of the show that you have selected off the EPG for timer recordings. It should not look to rename it part way through IMO. If you select to record say CSI at 8:30pm then that should be the name it uses, not the name of the show 3 mins before (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif ) Mick, the thing is,...

Some TV's only supported progressive scan on certain inputs and interlaced on others. Thank you but I do not understand the terminology? G'day, QUOTE (kingbaz @ Dec 11 2009, 03:43 PM) Just found out we have a limited offer through our work - $399.00 Includes TiVo 160, CASPA On-Demand, Wireless Adaptor and Home Networking Package (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif ) Too bad I don't work with you -- I paid $500 for 160Gb Tivo + Wireless Adapter today, plus $10 for HNP. So $399 seems quite a bargain indeed. --Geoff

And I just bought a 7100. I knew I should have waited (IMG: style_emoticons/default/sad.gif ) Now, if it supports NTFS formatted disks, then this would be the ' coming of age' of PVRs. I like the idea of accessing your PC from the toppy itself, rather than kludging along with FTP. There's too much to like!

QUOTE (hired goon @ Dec 8 2009, 09:47 AM) G'day, I'm looking for a PVR that is twin-tuner HD, has at least 1 week EPG that is easy to load (currently I need to take my laptop out to the Toppy and manually run TED), easy timer setup (e.g. select a program via EPG and schedule a recording), and also allows for easy manual padding either side of a scheduled or current recording. I like the look of; video playback up to 1080 p DNLA Wireless "N" I wonder if the "Peer to Peer Infrastructure" means you can stream/share files between networked units like the Wiz? The Topfield 7000 isn't really "wired". It has no network connectivity. Thus for all the great ICE features, the 7100 is really the choice for the HD Toppies (I can't imagine anyone would be too happy downloading EPG to a USB stick once a day to get ICE EPG on the 7000!!). The Beyonwiz doesn't have 3rd party EPG upload (yet). It supports ICE EPG (and of course broadcast EPG) only, ...

A Tivo is a good 'parents' PVR IMO. It does require a broadband internet connection in the house (wired or wireless) to download its EPG. It does indeed have a very effective 'season pass' whereby your parents can just ask it to record all new episodes of Desperate Housewives and it will take care of the rest. You can also shedule stuff over the internet. If you're a tiny bit techy I'd ...

Hi, I have a question about what I think is a bug in the BW DP-P2 (firmware 05.302) I have had this happen a couple of times now but cannot remember the exact circumstances except for todays. The problem is that when the Wiz is recording a show, and I am watching a previous recording play back, when the timer recording finishes, the Wiz turns off. Now this doesnt seem right to me, if I'm ...
