I have had my new Emotiva XPA-5 for a couple days now. I havent had a chance to compare it to the Elektra, but I can say that the XPA-5 is great value for money. I would hazard a guess that even if the Elektra is better, it would only be marginal and not worth the extra $$$.

QUOTE (rocky500 @ Nov 25 2009, 04:53 PM) I think I like the Emotiva value better. I could buy 3x XPA-1 for the front stage 500 watts RMS x 1 into 8ohms, 1,000 watts RMS x 1 into 4ohms and a XPA-5 for the rest and still have money in the bank. I hate to sound elitist.. I try not to be, but i like the Elektra, a lot. It has performed much better that I anticipated, or expected.... But consequence of that is I have no money in...

Here is a pic with the bass absorbers in place. Once the curtains are in place the railing at the top will hold them in place. Won't be as ugly with the curtains to hide them. Click to see pic This post has been edited by Drizt : Yesterday, 10:57 PM

"bestest" Universal...

From what I've read there's not much from a programmatic perspective.... The differences are mostly aesthetics, ergonomics/build quality, colour touch-screen, nicer buttons, haptic feedback, prolly missing something. The reason I say I wouldn't trust the serial no. alone is the potential for someone to wack a fake one on the remote. This post has been edited by jalyst : Nov 20 2009, 02:48 PM

Pioneer Lx81..move To Emotiva...
Published (2009-11-25 15:44:00)
Always a difficult one, mate. The Pioneer 'LX81 is a very good unit and makes for a very good pre-amplifier. I suppose that the difficult thing is not being able to audition one. I, and I know that there are quite many like me in this instance, like the idea of a dedicated pre-amp/surround sound processor, partnered with a dedicated power amplifier. However, many are happy with a mid-range A/V Receiver serving as a pre-amp. Sorry; I know...

The JBL's look impressive but have you considered Seaton Sound Catalysts? Seaton Sound Catalysts A quote from Mark Seaton: In my mind, the fact that the speakers can reproduce ~125dB @ 1m at any frequency above 80Hz within linear operating limits is not the most impressive quality. Despite what Mark says above I was so impressed I've bought 3 of them for the front stage. 2000watts each. I'd certainly like to see how they'd...

The other way to consider it Neill, which wouldn't mean commiting to a caterer, is to just hire a spit from a butcher, get the meat from him and cook it over coals ourselves. Also, usually if you buy the meat from a butcher that has a spit, they'll throw the unit in for free. Then we could various people to supply certain bits like salads, nibbles etc. People's plans could very easily ...

Selling my month-old 4308A purchased from authorised Sydney Dealer. Works perfectly (no HDMI drop-outs). I have store Receipt and all packaging. There is very limited (if any) stock of 4308A left in Australia, and it does sound heaps punchier than the "new" 4310 I would like $3,200 for it. I'm located in ST Leonards (Sydney lower North Shore). Specs are here: http://www.audioproducts.com...

Nice one smegget, same front stage as myself. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wub.gif ) Dollar for dollar i found they were hard to beat. I know the 4308 isn't exactly a wuss, but do consider a power amp or integrated down the track to really get them singing, especially for music playback.
