power loss while turning

Your power steering might be pulling quite a bit of power for some reason, a dying power steering could be the problem but not sure on that. Oh and Red, he said not an electronics problem. I think he was meaning engine power loss. Also, your fuel pump may be sucking up less when you go around a corner. Is your fuel pump noisy like it wants to die?

Check your vacuum lines. I had a customer's 1G once that was running so pig-rich that it wouldn't even idle on it's own when it was at operating temp. I changed the o2 sensor, even rebuilt the ECU (needed done anyway, leaking capacitors) and the problem persisted. Turned out to be one of the vacuum lines that went to the charcoal canister under the battery had completely broken off causing a massive vacuum leak. I repaired the...

Yeah I am really hoping that's it and pretty optimistic. Stupid Sundays...hardware store is closed. Need to re-tap the thread or try and force it in correctly. It must have been the tranny shop that screwed it up...couldn't have been me since I am perfect. Updates to come.

This should still be in your original thread since you are still having the same issue and without all the previous information, people reading the new thread will have no idea what signs you had that were pointing to it being a head gasket. Please continue to post in this thread.

Anyway to tell if T-belt is newer?
Published (2009-12-25 00:03:00)
Just bought a "93 Tsi and have no idea when Timing belt was changed last. Can you tell at all by just looking at it or is a belt job in order? The previous owner did say he had a mechanic change the alt + power steering belts recently and it would seem strange to just change them and not T-belt UNLESS the guy just couldn't aford a T-belt job OR mechanic thought T-belt looked very new. I'll have to pull the cover and look at...

Boost leak test your intake tract. Do a search on boost leak and boost leak tester. I'm sure many results will pop up.

I used the 2G flywheel bolts on my twin disk and haven't experienced any backing off problems as of yet (12,000 miles). As for the installation, you should be able to find instrctions either here, tuners, or quartermaster/PTT website.

What can cause ECU to default to rich fuel mixture? Other than when o2 or coolant sensors fail what other sensors can either fail or have a bad connection that can cause the ECU to default to a pig rich setting? And after checking o2 + coolant sensors in what order should you check those other sensors if you're gas mileage is complete ...

I know E-brakes freeze up during the winter which is why people recommend keeping it in gear during the winter. It's happened to me once, and I got the same pop. I guess checking the brakes would be a good start. Or just start dumping hot water everywhere and then go drive till it dries off.

Hook it to your "P" port on top of your throttle body. And you should buy one, they are only around thirty dollars. Only way to tell boost is while driving also. You can't rev it up and see how much boost you are running.

I bet you tore the o-ring at the waterpipe. I've done it before. It's really a pisser. No pun intended. Take a look from the front side behind the alternator area and see if you see any drips. Was it dripping from the start or has it had a couple of good heat cycles to the motor?

Yes one wheel spinning and the other not in the front is normal, the front diff is not LSD (limited slip differential) as for the click it could be a bad axle or a bad wheel bearing, put the rest of the car on the ground and jack the right front up only about an inch, take a bar and shove it under the tire and wiggle it up and down, if it moves than you have a bad wheel bearing. Now have someone ...

Although you covered pretty much anything, double check over this list that Sean made. Every single time I've had a no-start (even on my non-DSM's), I followed down this list and found a culprit. http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showpo...47&postcoun t=9 Hope that helps.

It sounds like your car is completely out of time. Or it is possible that you have bad lifters or lifters that need compressed. I would check your timeing first off though...
