Bass pedal BEATER help
Published (2009-12-05 17:27:00)
Guess my thoughts are if you have been happy with what's been on there then replace it with the same thing ;-) I switched from the DW 2 way to a round Danmar felt and like the feel better but that is just me. I played the 101's for some 20 years. Can't go wrong with them.

7BALL PEDALS!?
Published (2009-12-05 20:34:00)
For only 160$? That's a steal. Although I've never heard of those pedals before, they look pretty nice for the price. I'd get 'em :p

Closed hat boom question
Published (2009-12-05 23:10:00)
My X-hat consists of a 12" Wuhan on bottom, with a 10" splash top. I have mine too mounted on the right side of my kit. I have no problems mounting the wuhan. You just need to first screw the tension spring all the way down. Then place the wuhan, followed by the top cymbal, then tighten the HH clutch screw. From there you can screw the spring tension from super tight and articulate, to loose and washy. It works great. One...

Used single pedal
Published (2009-12-01 02:57:00)
Used Iron Cobra's are pretty cheap. Unfortunatly, I havnt gotten the chance to play one yet, but if you ask anyone, I'm sure they'll vouch for it. It's like...a really well know pedal. Or hit a drum shop and try every pedal in the store. werd. -Ma

Flying Dragons?) Trick V-1 Sleishman Double Pedal (double pedal can be unscrewed in the middle and split into two mirrored pedals) Yeah, they all tend to be higher end pedals.

Large Basket Snare Stands
Published (2009-12-04 20:56:00)
Hello Who makes large basket snare snands (e.g. 16-18 inches)? Most stands have normal sized baskets such as the Pearl S-1000 (12-14 inch) and the DW 5300 (8-15 inch). I am looking to put some lightweight frame drums on them so they don't have to be extremely sturdy. Thanks in advance. GJS

Racks?

I have a 7-piece kit and the DR-503C rack, but find I only use 2 of the 3...

I would definitely start replacing the Meinl MCS cymbals first. Get your basic items (drums, cymbals, pedals) up to scratch first, and then start worrying about the rest.
Do you play gigs? If not, a rack is mostly a useless investment anyway.
I used to have a rack on my kit, but have since gone back to stands. The rack looked awesome, but proved too cumbersome and inflexible for my needs. I...

I recomend the Gibraltar X-hat. They have a couple of different options. The first following picture is basically just a x-hat stacker that you can attach to any threaded cymbal stand. I have mine attached to a L-Rod with a threaded top. This lets me insert it into any number of different clamps. However gibraltar also makes a standard boom with x-hat attachment. The one pictured is the old ...

"RIMS" is kind of like "Kleenex" or "Q-Tip"...It's a brand name that has become the household term for that particular item. There are tons of "RIMS-style mounts", but most people just say RIMS.
If you're happy with them, why change? If you want more resonance out of the 13" tom, then I'd take the mounting hardware off the shell and try a RIMS mount. If you want more resonance from the ...

In my basement studio my drums are located in the corner with the forced air furnace located to my left and ductwork in the cieling everywhere. I tacked blankets up on the cieling here and there and hang them like tapestries between me and the furnace and here and there. It was awfull and deafening and impossible to reduce feedback till I hung blankets. The blankets were free (out of the wifes ...

Are JVC marshmallows sound isolation headphones? Maybe that's why they work better than your other ones.
I'm not sure what's out there within your price range, but make sure that whatever you go with has some decent isolation.
It will give you much clearer sound as it drowns out some of the outside noise. This also means that you can turn down your headphones to a reasonable volume so ...

I met the guys that make it, a few years ago. That pedal's been around since 1972, by the way. To my knowledge, Will Calhoun is playing one currently, and has for a few years. Great pedals. Excellent action. When I play a double pedal, I use a Tremelo Tech. center pedal (see pic. below) same concept. Symmetry, is what this design is all about, really. With a centered kick, you build your kit left...

In my opinion, I highly encourage you NOT to try removing one of the legs. I'm sure you can find a two-legged hi-hat stand for somewhere between 100-150. Tama makes wonderful two-legged hi hat stands, like the iron cobra velo glide.

Humes & Berg make fine cases. They're a bit pricey.
Stagg cases are also very nice.
I wouldn't use hard cases unless you are having someone load in and out for you or you are touring. Since I load myself and I'm not hard on my gear like I used to be when I was younger, I use Road Runner soft cases. They're so much lighter and for a couple of hundred bucks I have cases for all my ...

I have a Tama STAGESTAR, and I have the same problem. Im going to order the closest sized bag pack that I can find. I'll buy some foam padding, and cut it to fill the extra space so that I don't have to have custom bags made or pay more buy ordering bags individually.
Guitar Center has a good selection of bags.

I have two different DW double pedals (one chain, one nylon) and a DW hi-hat stand.
I've never had a problem with either. Well made stuff.
