Okay so first of all, when people say "1 turn" does that mean 360 degrees or 180? that always gets me confused. alright my question is what does the resonant head do on a snare drum? how will the sound differ if the reso was tuned tightly or softly? and what does a thicker/thinner snare reso generally do to the sound? i know that a thicker tom reso resonates more but what of a snare one...

I just bought a new kit (Gretsch) on the bottom heads there are no manufacturer name. to your opinion ,does it worthwhile to replace them to some known manufacturer?does it means they are inferior from "pro" heads? does it can affect dramatically the sound ? Thanks everybody Redmi

Ok, hopefully one of my last threads about drum heads! But now I need to choose either Remo or Evans. I'm just attempting on getting different opinions before I make a buy. For this set (i know it's not that great) http://www.tama.com/history/history_detail.asp?i=1 21 It's the model on the bottom left corner. What would be a good combo just for rock/alternative, either: ...

I would recommend Evans G1 Coated all around...great stuff. But, for some reason if you are Remo person, try the Vintage Ambassadors.

Hey, I need advice on what skins to buy for my Pearl BLX kit, I want skins that make a short length sound, but also have a good tone to them. Can anyone suggest what i should use for the bass drums and the toms? Daphfz

I just got some of the Moon Gel things after hearing so much about them. I usually do not muffle drums at all, but I've been doing some small jazz venues and a bit of dampening would be nice. One little square of the this stuff will dampen the drum enough without killing the playability of the drum like rings. (btw, if you ever want to make 'rings' of your own, take a razor to an old drum ...

I used to play 5As, but I bought some of these today and they are awesome! I love the little taper - the balance and power is perfect. Anyone else play with these? I think my perfect stick hunt is finally over.

So i put a dent in my twelve inch tom head and i can tell it's messing up the sound of my tom. So i would like to get it out if possible so that i don't have to get a new head. What would be the best way to do this?

you really should give the Remo Suede as snare head a try, very nice for playing jazz. I use a maple snare with it, sometimes a bronze snare.
