Gary Chaffe is retiring!

I had the pleasure of meeting Chaffe when I was at North Texas he was very inspiring. The kind of teacher that could show you enough in 5 minutes that you could spend the rest of your life working on. I spent alot of time with vol. II of the patterns book. I am grateful to his legacy and the great books he left behind. I can't even begin to think of all the great drummers that he taught over the years.

Steve Reich- Contemporary...

I've been aware of Steve Reich for many years now. I do not think the classical world is underated. It's just not what people are doing here, so doesn't get talked about. Feel free to bring it up more often. I'm into checking out everything. Except this German woman speaking loudly on Scype beside me.

Steve Reich- Contemporary...

One area which I feel is massively under-rated in this forum is the realm of classical music... I'd like to draw your attention to a New Yoiker by the name of Steve Reich- as well as being a master drummer, he puts together very well thought out compositions for percussion, in the same way one would for any other instrument or ensemble. Reich is an important influence in the "minimalist" movement of modern classical...

Clive Bunker of Jethro Tull

My favorite Tull album would most definatly be Stand Up; every song is pure genius and for me is quite obsessive! Just listen to Mr. Clive Bunker lay back that groove on Bouree (with Glen Cornick on bass), or for more of that blues A New Day Yesterday, not to mention Jeffrey Goes to Leicester Square. I just can not get enough of it! Clive Bunker the tremendous drummer that he is has had a very huge influence on my that passion of mine... sweet...

Topper Headon

Topper is one of my favs (I am a massive Clash fan)...and yes, he did drive taxis, busked in the London tube at a low point after the Clash during his addiction, and what not. He is recovered now and looks fantastic (thank god)! He is doing a bit of drumming again. I wish he would do more. I would love to meet him. Some recent tube of you links: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIJ5O1lQUPg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKEJTixhoEY Seems a real...

Wow this is great footage. No other Brendon Canty/Fugazi fans on here? One of my favourite drummers for one of my favourite bands. I was lucky enough that my band was asked to support the Joe Lally band last month. Now he had a great drummer. But then, since he has been playing with Brendon for the past 20 years or so he have to have somebody pretty amazing behind the kit.

Thanks for starting this thread. It's a shame there wasn't one already. Yes, Charlie is a great drummer, a great musician, very groovy, and an integral part of the sound of the Stones. When I get the time, I plan to line up my Stones tunes and really study what Charlie's doing.

Yet again another influence... Mr Bernante!
First time I heard "Among the Living" I almost fell off my seat.
One of the first drummers along with Dave Lombardo & Lars Ulrich to blast out those double bass drums in the early to mid 80's.
A true Metal Pioneer!
