bolster and hammer.. you have to get the tiles up anyway so might as well use that for the adhesive left down too.. do you absolutely need to pull up the old? can't you just lino over the top, or self adhesive vinyl tiles? __________________ If you make everything idiot proof, evolution will just make a better idiot.

Thanks for the replies, Col Jack, replacement has to be new ceramic tiles and cannot tile over the old surface as the level will be too high. Bahco, interesting suggestion - looks like an excuse to buy a new toy! any suggestions as to which one to buy?

Thanks tictic that stuff looks like it might work depending on the thickness of the flooring. We might get rubber tiles and have ordered some samples, will double check with the company on the best way to lay them. Jo

after doing the backsplash in my kitchen today ( including a windowcil ), as an electrician I feel I must apologise to all tilers on behalf of my trade for putting sockets wherever we want them and not caring about the hassle we cause the follow on trades... I had to cut 3 tiles to accomodate 2 sockets.. one square out of the left of the tile, one square out of the right of ...

I appreciate this has probably been asked before.... When I had my tiles down, they needed regrouting because the original grout failed. The tiler re-grouted, but left me to clean the grout off the tiles. I got most of it off with water and a cloth, but now, a year later, I can still see a grey haze on them.... They are slate effect tiles, so they are not smooth. What's ...
