........NO! match the underlay to the carpet ....simples The PP carpet will give you stain resistance The wool will not However the wool will keep its appearance in the long run ...In my experience avoid the 60oz it is prone to shading. The 50oz is fine and a very heavy duty carpet. ...for both carpet choices a 9mm pu underlay is the one you need. ....sounds like you are nearly there!

Shelving Units and new carpet?
Published (2009-11-19 15:02:00)
Thanks big-all Its just that putting shelving units up against the wall with grippers under the carpet is near impossible to get them to sit properly, Is their an alternative to the nail type gripper system? Say a velcro sort of method?

if your fairly confident/competent then something like this you could do yourself, they only cost a few pounds each,im sure somewhere on here there are detailed instructions on a how to do. the object of airbricks is to give ventillation to the sub floor,i would recommend the plastic 9x6 louverd vents (they are more efficent). you may feel this is above your limits,so if this is the case a...

It is always best to treat every room as a separate entity and install a threshold - divider in between. EVery room has its own "climate" Then you calculate per room the expansion gap you need based on the width the rows of boards will be. E.g. room 6 x 4 and installing parallel the longest wall, means 4 meter wide floor: 4 x 4mm (4mm per meter wide) = 16mm. Same room, but now installing ...

Hi, I've got some kardean(is that spelt right? ) flooring. I'm nearing the end of refurbing the house. Never laid this stuff before, done laminate find that quite easy and enjoyable. I'll be screwing down all my current floorboards so creeks are hopefully stopped. Then laying down 6mm ply 2400x1200mm boards, these will be fixed by ring nails every 150mm aprox. Then it comes to ...

Ok, so just inside my sons room upstairs about 1/2 mtr into the doorway, the chipboard floor has broken up. The joist run down that room, so the floor has broken up between the 2 joints on a join. It looks like something heavy has stood in that doorway and caused it to crack, though the mother-in-law prob weighs about 26stone, so maybe the cause. Ive been up and ripped the ...

I should be grateful for any advice or help here, please. The boards are 4 1/2" wide and approx 7/8"/22mm deep, so not standard size. Have been hunting around on the internet but with no luck so far - I wish I could track down some reclaimed boards circa 1930. The boards are yellow/orange rather than pink and I rather suspect may in fact be maritime pine.
