Yeah well I'm beginning to run out of love!! Where might I sensibly look? It is (most) unlikely to be a partial blockage because the impact is total - Lots of water or none. So I guess it has to be a sensor of some sort. How does the DW know that there is enough water inside and to stop filling? This seems the most logical candidate? I presume this is the 'float switch' but where do I find it?

If you look in the end of the circulation pump you can see a fan blade, this will rotate when the pump is running. If the pump is not running but is making a humming noise or getting warm then it could be the motor capacitor has gone low in value.

Cheers for the vid, I actually think its the waste pipe that's blocked, I took the end of it off the waste side, had the leak that was inevitable!!lol I presume, that I have got to take the back of the washing machine off to access it as there are no glands visible??? Only problem is my paranoia of a leak, upstairs apartment and all that I'm already regretting this!!! Posts to boost morale are now very much welcome from all!! Thanks

Just re-read BS 6172 (installing domestic cookers). Para 11.2.2 states "Any flexible connector shall conform to BS 699-1". So, does not seem to include BS 699-2 catering hoses! Therefore possibly excludes them?
