Well I tried the Hardie brand so far and they work fine for me, but when I run out I'll try the others and let you know. The square tip is awesome though vs the typical phillips I've used. Got the liner in, did a water test overnight and everything looked good this morning. Got the lower part of the backer board on, two coats of Redgard on the lower edge, and got the top mortar bed done today. I used some 1/8 panel behind the back...

Electrical shorts and gas leaks in the same house, are no bueno. Don't jack around with a gas leak. I would call someone that knows what they're doing ASAP.

that sounds about right as far as money...I would call a few people and see how much it would be if you supplied all the wire, etc. You will probably need a new panel too.. but before you pull the trigger on that, I would go thru each plug and see where the circuit went bad. Buy a little tester, one that lights up when there is power, start at the first recepticle that does not have power ...

It may be a little late now but before we bought the house we are in now. We put in a bid on a place that had a similiar setup. I wanted to gut it like you did except I also wanted to knock out the wall and tub, re-route the plumbing, and build a bad ass shower with multiple heads that 2 people could shower in if they had to. The place we have now has a real nice shower so I am hesitant to do it ...
