I inherited a
mountain bike from my son (Raleigh Teton 1986) and I would
like to
be able to use it just for exercising in the street (concrete, asphalt and
occasionally
gravel) and I need to replace the worn tires. The ones that I found seem to
have rough
treading for rough terrain but I would prefer tires that give me a smooth
ride.
Could I replace the originals with a set ...

Jobst,
I missed your annual Europe ride report this summer. They are always
very inspiring and were my motivation for cycling up the Stelvio (and
other passes) to experience this for myself. As well, I have always
appreciated your informative posts in wreck.

Something I find interesting about this is that the climbs I mentioned
included four which received a
5-star rating for prettiness (schön)
from www.quaeldich.com - (and four which after I checked them I
confirmed as deserving a top "A" rating).
But none of those 5-star climbs has ever been mentioned before on
rec.bicycles.rides. Even though they're in the Berner Oberland region
...

This is not meant as a criticism, but I wonder whether you have considered
this factor: *If someone is tempted to turn back or drop out, he may be
hesitant...
