I prefer a SPST - I yank the drive cable out. See if the crash created a dump file I can check. Navigate (right click My Computer, left click Explore) to the following folder: c:\windows\ minidump And if one is there, locate in it any recent minidump(date-somenumber).dmp files created, where "date-somenumber" matches dates of any recent crashes there. If they exist, then just zip a copy of it, and send it to...

Correct remove this entry C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows XP Professional Setup" Then SAVE but make sure it is saved as boot.ini and not a text file.

Absolutely not. lio you cannot alter a registry key in Windows 2000 and expect the change to help you boot into XP. All that will do is make both OS's unbootable. Intel 845GL MotherBoard Question
Published (2009-11-28 23:01:00)
I have checked the manual for the "Intel D845GLVA". It supports ATA 66 and ATA 100 drives with LBA so you should have no problem with a larger drive. (I cannot personally guarantee that it will work but that's what the manual says.) The manual also mentions ATA 133 (UDMA 6) drives and claims that these too would work provided you manually set the BIOS to UDMA 5 instead of the default AUTO. <Quote>If the...

Thanks for the reply. The problem started with WinXP SP3 and the "fix". In short I went to the website "Computer Hope" and researched Safe Mode. In short if it deosn't get into safe mode it's "bad". System corruption. Best is reinstall OS (Thank god for back ups). Again thanks

sfc /scannow produces blue screen. Spybot, Sophos rootkit and SystemSuite 9 find nothing. Maybe a newer rootkit? If so, this would be devilish clever to disable sfc.exe.
