I've used this trick on Internet Explorer on Win98, XP Home, XP Pro and now Vista and it has always worked for me. I really don't know what else to tell you to try.

Will only allow me to do a destructive recovery. I don'r think I want to try that as I have a ton of pictures that I don't want to lose. And I can't back them up.

If you're using Internet Explorer: 1. Open Internet Explorer and go to a page with links 2. Right click a lick and in the menu that opens, left click "Open in new window" 3. Do not click the Maximize button. Instead, point the mouse cursor at a corner or side and when it turns into a double-headed arrow, press and hold the left mouse button then drag the window to a larger size. Using the ...

No, not a real simple way. You see, there's two main issues - one, your operating system (Windows™) resides on the smaller ("C") drive. And second, your smaller drive is set as Master and the larger ("F") is set as Slave [small plastic jumpers on the rear of the drives set whether they are recognized as Master or Slave]. If you're willing to do some work, it can be accomplished tho.

If it boots in Safe Mode OK every time then that suggests to me that it's a driver issue rather than a hardware failure. Have you tried using "msconfig"? It takes a little effort but it's a good tool for finding problem drivers. Essentially you just de-select a few drivers at a time and see if the problem goes away; keep changing the selections in a methodical manner until you prove which driver...

try a memory test from microsoft to see if maybe the ram is bad http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp also tell about your computer, cpu, ram, harddrive size and freespace on it. Also exactly what computer model do you have. Finally what exactly what ram did you purchase.

Looks like my 'computer name' is different also. Don't really care about this, can wipe system and reinstall apps, really just want to get back the previous user's docs and settings ...
