You can add a second IDE hard drive by using the jumper to jumper it as a slave to either your hard drive or to your cdrom/DVD, doesn't matter. You should then be able to access it. The only problem would be if the hard drive you are installing has a NTFS partition (say its from W2K or XP), then Windows ME will not read it .

You can use 192 MB with XP (I know b/c I tested it with 128 MB of RAM) but it will be really sLoW. I highly recommend upgrading your RAM to 512 MB for Vista. A 15 GB HDD is sufficient. What CPU do you have? I assume it is a Pentium 1, but what MegaHertz?

I'm trying to recover some programs for a friend. I want to remove his hard drive, add it as a slave in my computer and back his files up. His computer has a corrupted windows. My hard drive is an IDE hard drive. Can I add his hard drive (ATA), configure the dip switches and go? Some one said yes, or simply slave it to one of the DVD drives. I'm out of my depth, so need some ...

I now have 191 Mb ram memory and a 633 MHz processor. I'm running ME on an HP Pavilion computer. This is above the minimum system requirements to run Windows XP. My friend has an XP installation disc. Would it be good to try to install it over my ME OS? What would the benefits be if I could do it and do you think I would have trouble connecting with my ethernet card? If something would go wrong ...

Installed a hard drive w/ WinME into a newer tower w/ AMD dual core processor and NVIDIA graphics card. The hard drive booted ONLY in Safe Mode. I want to 'upgrade' the WinME to WinXP Pro ... however, when I booted the HD from the installation CD, it did not give me an 'upgrade' option. (I have data on the drive I wish to preserve, so I only want to upgrade; I do NOT want to perform a clean ...

In my navigation toolbar I used to have a 'new tab' icon. It's not there anymore and I can't figure out how to get it back. If I go to 'File' then click 'new tab' I can get a new tab but I prefer the 'new tab' icon and besides that I want to know why it is gone now. Thanks

Mr. Tom My wife, Carronlee started this thread on may 6th. Your last reply was on May 17th. Someone gave her another computer so I get the hand-me-down. That's not working, of course. The following is the log you requested: (You guys can actually make sense out of this stuff?)
