Thank you for the assistance. I'll try the one on how to erase a CD RW disc in Win XP. By the way, I have another disc that has file system shown as CDFS and the used & free spaces are displayed in MB. The one that I mentioned above is believed to be an empty disc without content. It has the file system shown as RAW . The used & free spaces are displayed as 0 byte for both. I am not sure why they show different file...

Windows/DOS commandline tool "FORMAT" does not support Optical media. You can not format CD-RW media from the commandline using this command. To erase a CD_RW in XP, follow the instructions here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306641

Like going from v.7 to v.8, AVGv.9 can be paid or the free version - up to you. Eventually you'll need to upgrade, but they'll support v.8.x for a long time. I have 9 on a few PC's at home, and it seems just fine - no real big changes that I can see.

I have received reports from elsewhere that these discs are ok. However they don`t ship this type of item to Australia.
