Need help please!! Webcam problem!!

I honestly don't own a webcam right now, and haven't had much time using any of the Messenger variations over time, but to give you perhaps a starting point to be checking, take a look at the DirectX settings and functions there. Go to Start - Run, type dxdiag and press OK. Other than of course check for the diagnostics locating actual errors, try changing the settings under the Display tab. A bit of trial and error time.

i dont think theres anything wrong with trying. before hand it had a massively noticeable discolouration in the bottom left of the screen, now theres just one dead line of pixels. tbh, i never thought it would work again anyway once i put it back together so its a success for me! i think i've probably just nocked something and the chance of getting rid of the dead line is little......its all a learning experience i suppose anyway ;^)

Money may not be a barrier, by the looks of options like this one. Buyer ratings are important for those vendors, so most are very good about ensuring their product is good, or make good if it isn't. So used shouldn't be a concern. Especially at that price, and the shipping expense isn't too bad (not hiding too much of a "bump" folded into the shipping costs). Not sure if you are a US customer, but there are...

Hard drive rack?

You used to be able to buy drive rails that would screw into a 3.5" hard drive and allow you to install the drive into a 5.25" slot. As far as the cable goes, you should be able to use the adapter just fine assuming that you have a quality psu with high output.

I think the issue is the miss-matched ram. they probably have slightly different clock timings,(thats why your getting errors with both sticks in the system, but no errors individually) easiest fix is to replace the Apacer with another Mushkin. If the bios allows it, you can try adjusting the individual timings, see if there's a happy medium that both modules can work at without errors. Quote: Important: If you are using more than one...

first of all if you will need to purchase a legal operating system if you are trying to use the one that came with the emachine. oem operating systems cannot be used on any computer other than the one it came with. I only mentioned this because you said you are using the hd from your old computer.
clarification - are you getting anything at all when you turned on the monitor? any small ...

the cpu is a p3 1.0ghz 133fsb
the sdram is unbuffered cas3 PC133

Hi again
I've been using a Linksys wireless adaptor to connect with my laptop, but I noticed while searching for my hard drive that there's a connector for an internal wireless card.
Spurred on by my success at replacing said hard drive, I thought I might fit a wireless card.
Can I use anything? Is the connector inside universal?
Thanks

basically when you let crucial scanned you it will tell you exactly what ram you need. IMO, get only what they recommend whether you get it from them or someone else. I would advise upgrading to at least 512 megs of ram but if you can 1 gig would be better.
You also need about 15-20 percent of your drive free in order for your computer to run efficiently.
You need to go through your ...

Welcome to CTH sstek226,
Surprising that a web search did go right to the Dell info here you mention. "Other" of course isn't very helpful. But if you have no display, and the system won't feed an added graphics card, you seem to have some failure related to the motherboard graphics chip or processes. Which leans towards you needing to replace the motherboard. No audible beep codes during ...

My daughter's HP DV2000 laptop w/ Windows Vista will not boot up normally. Sometimes she gets the blue screen, sometimes, just fuzz, and sometimes an option to boot in Safe Mode appears.
The blue screen said something about a problem with the Nvidia graphics driver.
Should I try to boot in Safe Mode and install a new Nvidia driver (that I can get off the HP website)?
Or something else...

Hi leachim,
You really need to not post the same request at different forums. Leads to duplications of folks; efforts, and possible conflicting steps and changes being made simultaneously. Might be the methods Knoppix uses to load to RAM, where those others are still reading from the disk, but some web searching shows quite a few people who found this was heat related. That the fan and CPU ...

The keyboard key's are all interconnected with an array of ribbon cables, and use a cable sequence to tell the system which key was pressed (cable 1, 7 and 8 are a "T" perhaps, while 1, 7 and 3 are a "5"). The liquid likely is either shorting some connections, or has permanently damaged and shorted them.
For the display, the liquid has gotten between one of the screens behind the display ...

Based off the specs in the link you provided your computer will not be able to run a 9800 GTX+ without first upgrading the power supply. The link states you have a 250watt psu and Nvidia.com states that card needs a minimum of 450w with two 6pin pci-e connectors. You have a PCI-e slot, but without a more powerful psu you won't be able to run the card you're looking at.

Bingo!
You're not going to get any decent flow to video with an old CPU like that.
All the BUS speeds on the motherboard [as well] are causing the poor video speed.

Welcome to CTH glix,
I reckon you could trace out some of the same voltage power circuitry on the board and solder jumpers from the fan, but good chance it running unregulated will lead to cooking it. Seems the power supply could be pretty involved, with the monitoring info that feeds the BIOS, and any electronics that controls the fan power and speed. Usually does mean a motherboard ...
