G'Day Ecosse, As an expat Aussie (but born a Glaswegian) good to see you with us despite the wierd recommendations. I sympathise with Gord and his web research, and suggest one could shove the choice of beer somewhere dark and warm. No where near enough chemicals in that stuff to make it even palatable. Ah for a VB. Happy Hogmanay JOHN

Hi Swagman, Would you be that same Swagman that was waltzing Matilda, or is that a wee bit before your time? Beer!! seems like we've hit on a favourite subject but I'm really not prejudiced; I've drunk stuff that would take the enamel off your teeth but all in the name of "research" you understand. The only beer(s) I draw the line at are the chemical concoctions marketed as "beer" in the US....

Hello SkiprJohn and thanks for the greet. It's 70 degrees and holding......but I wouldn't want to go outside! Are you live aboards, just cruising the islands, or reside in Hawaii and boating when you get a chance? Are you staying at a marina with a web site that I can check out? Happy boating & thanks for the boating links. Terry

Welcome, Lucio!
My wife and I are exclusively Bahamas/Caribbean sailors. The first European to sail those waters was also from Genoa.

Greetings and welcome aboard Dan and his few good people.
You may be crazy, BUT YOU’RE STILL DOING IT!
In the words of Billy Joel:
... You may be right, I may be crazy
But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for
Turn out the light, don't try to save me
You may be wrong for all I know, but you may be right ...

If you haven't already done so, I would suggest doing some reading and study before showing up. Spend some time reading posts on this site. Go to the local library and see what they have. Read books about sailing trips, how to sail, how to tie knots, basically anything. Will give you a lot better chance of getting a ride.
Good luck.

Welcome to the forum. I'm a Michiganian also. (don't like the "gander" ending). I don't have any info on the boats your looking at. There are very few cats in this area. Good Luck and Happy Holidays.

Hi,
I'm a transplanted Scot living in Panama these past 7 years. I'm new to sailing but determined to create this " new reality"
I've only been a member for a couple of days but already I've received some sterling advice and support.
Wish I could buy you guys a beer.
Cheers.
Ecosse.

Hello, my husband and I have been living aboard our yacht since 1999. We have sailed the east coast of Australia, the Tasman Sea to New Zealand and back again. Though we only did the North Island. We are looking forward to our preposed sail to Canada in 2010 and learning to navigate this forum.

Hi Vernon
Welcome and Merry Christmas, Why does it have to be in Key West? there is a big world out there and limiting yourself to just one very small place you decrease your odds of getting onboard!

It's great to see more and more PNWer's coming to the forum. I felt so alone for the first couple of years on CF.
Just kidding of course! I'm not too far from you, just up the Snohomish River next to I-5. Pretty soon we'll be able to start our own rendezvous. Go here to meet other PNWers http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...+cruisers.h tml
