Lion Brand Hometown USA

Our Walmart had some and put it on a $1 sale. I asked a salesman if that could possibly be correct. He came over and checked it for me and said it was correct and I should buy all I wanted of it while it was $1. They didn't have a lot of it ~ mostly 2 and 3 skeins of different colors. The colors were so pretty and cheery, so I bought all I could in the colors I liked and ended up with $20 of red, yellow, chocolate, Green Bay green,...

Well you really got a real deal, Real Deal! I had seen it in my Walmart and it wasn't $1.00/skein. I have to go to Walmart this morning so Ill have to see if they have it marked it $1.00 (though I doubt it). Looks like you really scored on that one. Have fun with it!

I made positively gorgeous scarves out of that moonlight mohair. N hook in hdc. Came out beautiful. The chenille is nice too but make sure you knoe the end before and after you finish, because it will fray on the ends. the suede is nice but felt weird on my hands.

It wasn't $1 at my walmart either. I think it was $2.97. I do hope they continue to carry it. I love it and it's going to make great chunky scarves and hats.

the baby yarn has nice colors but her other skiens are so blah, they are really drab, and dark ugly colors. The only store that sells her yarn is michaels.

Vanna's Choice Yarn

I love it, too. It's one of the few acrylics that work for wearables...As someone said, it's less plasticky. As for cost, I usually just wait for a sale to get it. It's cheap when you consider what you'd have to pay at the LYS for yarn in general.

No Christmas Yarn?!
Published (2009-11-24 23:59:00)
I am slightly disturbed by not being able to find my normal Christmas yarns this year! I usually make stockings using either one of the glitter type yarns or even the varigaited... however, even my local craft stores have not had it this year. I have checked 2 different Michael's and also the local walmart in the last day with no luck. Hoping Ben Franklin might have some in. I live out in the middle of nowhere so getting supplies can be...

Vanna's Choice Yarn
Published (2009-11-25 09:50:00)
Vanna's Choice is a pretty inexpensive yarn. I just saw it on sale @ Michaels for 2/$4. I recently paid $9 for an 80 yd. ball of cashmere and that was 50% off, so Vanna's Choice is cheap by comparison. I think I read somewhere (maybe on the Lion Brand website) that there is no center pull on this yarn. You pull from the outside or wind into a ball. And the knots, ugh, I've had all brands of yarn with knots. Annoying for sure. I...

No Christmas Yarn?!
Published (2009-11-25 00:45:00)
Even though I live in a city and have easy access to several craft stores and WalMarts I've also relied on Herrschners to get yarn from. They have always been very quick to ship out my order. I have never had any problems with them. I have always felt if you couldn't find something in your local craft suppy store just go to Herrschners they would have it.

I've just not warmed to this yarn either. I like some of the brighter colors (yellow) but not the more "drab" colors. I bought two skeins and took it back. Guess when I'm in doubt I just shouldn't let it hop into my cart.

I bought some too at AC Moore with my 50% off coupon. Haven't tried it yet, but loved the way it looked and felt. I have a flannelghan to finish b/4 Tuesday for DH's birthday- after that I'll be trying it out!

Acrylic will burn. It'll melt as it burns. If you pass the flame over it instead of lighting it on fire acrylic will smoke, shrink and turn into a stiff thin piece of plastic.

I have the old 8 oz size too in a couple of colors that are no longer being made. One of the discount stores in a neighboring town has some 8 oz (but at a regular high price, way high for me) but they have been marking them down 1/2 price, which is under the Wal-mart price so I have picking up whatever 8 and also the 6 oz multis (which is now 5 oz) they have left. They also had 3 oz RH Classic in...

I love LB wool ease thick and quick and also LB chenille thick and quick. I've made hats and scarves with both and a hat out of the wool ease thick and quick I also bought a skein of their new Hometown USA which is also a bulky yarn and comes in lots of fun, bright colors.

My daughter and SIL live in Birmingham and I was quite shocked how expensive shipping anything to England was. ($298 for a box of high school papers and photos and other mementos) For now, I buy their gifts from the UK sites for Amazon and eBay. I looked on the UK Amazon site but there only appears to be a brand called "Salco" The UK eBay site has some Lion Brand yarn, but all the ...
