Indeed, much more sidespin. He could beat batsmen in the air and off the pitch back then. These days he only beats them in the air. Misjudging the length is crucial so much less often when the ball isn't turning. You could say he's adapted his bowling to fit his role in the side, becoming a much more defensive bowler as he's given much more responsibility. I don't know if the results justify it though. __________________...

Reckon McKenzie's utterly shocking finish to his career counts heavily against him too myself, given how many people will insist that a full-career-average is the best way to judge a bowler.

Nath Hauritz keeps growing and is right now a pretty fine spinner. Also a decent bat. Should have his position locked for a while IMO.

I'd guess after the Australia vs SA series as Nufan has a bet that'll have to be collected after that series has finished?

I am a little dubious when it comes to list but normaly take some kind of interest, the problem is that they ALWAYS come down to statistical debates and the same old arguments, would would be interesting is a list devoid of statistical analysis which looks at the way in which 'greatest' players are considerd that for the cultural impact they had, what the meant at the time and how they...

Where does Vettori rank all-time as an all-rounder?
I have a huge amount of time for Dan as a cricketer.
IMO, he is certainly the best spin bowling all-rounder in test cricket history
But how does he rank against everybody?
Personally, I'd put him below guys like Sobers, Imran, Miller and Kallis but above the ...

Nice article. McDermott was gun. Siddle reminds one of him as well, in appearance.
Was at the 'G for that ODI vs Sri Lanka where he got two wickets off successive slow full tosses. The description is right - the batsmen were absolutely deceived and bewildered and it's always stuck in my memory.
No mention of his verbal exchange with Border during the tour of England.

In ODIs in the field he still looks dynamic tbh only AB can test in the world now that Symo is gone. So overall i'd say no.

Barath. I've never really been that impressed by Phillp Hughes tbh (I didn't get to see the South African series mind you). Barath from what I've seen doesn't really have a major weakness like Hughes has, although he does play at balls he could leave sometimes.

So technically this is a Pakistan 'home series', because nobody in their right mind is going to tour Pakistan anytime soon. So that being the case, that means the PCB has a say over how the pitch will play? Obviously you can't turn the pitch at Dunedin's University Oval into one similar to a pitch in Multan or Lahore, but you know what I mean.

Yeah I don't think you'll find too many people disagreeing with you.
I love the games where a score of 250-300 is a par TEAM score. Sadly it hardly ever happens anymore.
