I have a corn roughly 24-27 Inches long whom I feed 3 pinkies to once a week. My other snake is a California Kingsnake whom is about 16-20 inches long that I feed 2 pinkies to once a week. Is this too little food for them ? They both always seem so hungry when I feed them ^_^ Neither of them have ever regurgitated the pinkies/ignored the food. If I'm feeding them too little, let me ...

Yes me again with just another concern. I fed Houdini and Striker this evening and I noticed a small grey thing moving on top of her head please tell me they are not mites but just a bug that somehow came in the window and decided to go in their tank, I know unlikely but this cant be happening As a kid I had iguannas and the only time they had mites they were redish. I have been handling her ...

I just have a few questions which i'm sure are probably somewhere here in these forums, but i couldn't find them. 1. How do you know if your snake is sleeping, or getting enough sleep? 2. I have had my new normal corn for over 2 days now and even with the transporting of her from petco, she hasn't pooped at all. Her last feeding was Thursday, 5 days ago. Is this Normal? Anything to ...

I recently received a few "ZooMed: Forest Floor" substrate samples, and every tank that I put the sample in was COVERED in bugs about 4 days afterward. I got these samples at the Portland Metro Reptile Expo in Portland, Oregon. I don't know if is was JUST these samples, or if all of ZooMed's Forest Floor substrate is infested. I think the bug were mites. They were VERY small (smaller ...

So I have been reading a few threads about runts that are too small to eat the smallest of pinkies, what do you feed a baby like that? This may sound strange, but could you put a pinkie in a blender and make a 'nice' drink out of it and try to feed them that or maybe a chicken type baby food. I personally don't have a runt and my babies feed just fine, but as I read those other threads I ...

Ok, I haven't had my cornsnake for too long, it's only been just over 3 weeks, but she was acting normal throughout that time. Ever since I cleaned her cage last week she hasn't pooped and she keeps hiding under everything. I believe cornsnakes like to hide, but mine will nudge her way under the reptile carpet and stay there all day everyday. To at least get her out of there I put in just a ...

Hello, My cornsnake is almost 2 years old and she has been eating an adult mouse (not jumbo). I don't know how much she weights, but she's 3 feet long and is not obese or skinny.. she looks just fine. I've had her for 6 months now and when I got her from the petstore they were feeding her hoppers. Right away I stater giving her an adult mouse and notice that the lump was gone in 48hrs , ...

We have 15 babies all of which have now shed most over a week ago, but none have eaten yet. We originally tried whole pinkies but they seemed huge compared to the snakes, and they didn't eat. I have tried cutting them up (pinkies not the snakes) but this hasn't worked either. How long until I need to worry about their health ? and what else can I try. I thought we'd done the hard bit just ...

I have two hatchlings who arrived at my house via FedEx last Tuesday from Susan. They've both eaten F/T twice before being shipped to me. The most recent meal was 08/13. I've left them alone except for water changes, and all appeared normal when I put them in deli cups to feed last night. The male (Wizard) rattled a bit when I closed his lid, but didn't seem too distressed. The female...

My three year old corn snake has had a unique injury. I looked online when it first happened to find advice but it seems no one had ever experienced it before. It all started four days ago. That night I found Onyx's(my snake) lower back close to the tail piece pinched between the lid of the tank and the side. The heat lamp was on top of her and she was coiled around the wire. Most of her...

I'm so happy! Some of you may know that I had issues with the runt of my creamsicle clutch not eating. Well, I would like to thank both Katie and Nanci for their advice, and Nanci for catching the lizard in my front yard that Runt ate. Unfortunately, it was via force feeding, so I have no pictures to show (didn't wanna stress him/her out), but at least after 55 days without eating, s/he's ...

Could someone please explain the correct procedure for slitting and braining? I have not bought a book yet as I am waiting for the tampa reptile show to get a signed copy of Kathy Loves book and hopefully one of her snakes. (4 weeks to go! Yippee!) I have never had a picky eater but my new okeetee seems to be, I thought I'd try a few things to see if I could get her to eat more ...
