Thanks Suzy! My eventual plans involve granites & pewters because I am obsessed with gray snakes, so producing really good gray snakes is my hope. I figure since I love gray snakes, if I end up with extras I can't sell, at least they will be lovely to look at when I feed them!

Just remember you need to find homes for all the babies and there could be twenty or more. Breeding is fun, but like puppies and kittens, there's the responsibility that goes with producing more animals. It can be rewarding, but there are also times when things don't go as well. Just things to think about.

From talking to the breeder, she puts in a lay box as as soon as she separates the females who look gravid back into their own tubs. I won't know any due dates, so will be going by the size, behaviour and shape of the females to see if they do get gravid and put lay boxes in whether I do think they are gravid or not. I know this might not work out, if the females aren't bred by April I'll separate them anyway, but I was thinking...

I'd go for an amel stripe with hets for any combination of blood, lavender, anery- anything! Or an opal stripe or fire stripe or snow stripe. Or even an opal or fire het stripe.

Well I like the look of striped Snows "Albino + Anery" and such so if you are in for the long haul on breeding for fun I would find a Anery Het Amel "Albino" or Motley Anery Het Amel or Striped Anery Het Amel. With these choices your babies will be Classics & Amels and will have the pattern variations depending on your choice. Take a male and female from that clutch and 3 years later breed them ...

Doug, I'm not a corn snake expert. Did spend the first part of my life in Clearwater & Largo though. Our garage in Largo got up over 90 degrees on some hot days. The one in Clearwater didn't but might go down into the 70s at night on some of the coolest summer nights. Kathy Love's book seems to say corn snake eggs do best in the low to mid 80s. So I think it all depends on ~your~ garage ...

The snakes don’t need to be the same age, the male just needs to be old enough. Generally you could say 3 years old and 3’ long. In the classified section there is a Snakes Wanted section. Advertise there for what you want.
It is difficult to learn the genetics of a snake, takes many years of breeding trials. It really isn’t important for you to know that at this point. Don’t worry ...

There was a thread a while back that listed all the corn/other crosses that have been done so far. I think it was in the Genetics section. You can try searching there.
