Aly is really chill when it comes to food. She gets really shy and won't eat until you have covered her feeding container with a cloth so no one can watch her. She's such a little lady lol. She takes about 20 minutes to eat her meal. Charlie is so mellow until I hold the mouse near him, then he gets all tense and focused in hunt mode. He death glares his food for a second or two then strikes and coils around it like a pro. On double...

Super angry Snake at feeding time?
Published (2009-12-23 05:39:00)
Has she eaten a rat pup before or is this a new thing for her? If that's her normal dinner, then I'd also guess that she's due to shed. Remember that her behaviour isn't "anger" - that's a human thing. It's defence. Something about the rat pup is spooking her. In your place, I'm not sure I'd leave it with her much longer as she seems to stressed by it. You don't want her to start...

I love this thread! Bubblegum hides out a lot in his hide (on the warm side) but I caught him cruising around his viv around 10pm the other night so I suspect he waits for the little monster that keeps grabbing him to go to sleep. When I have him out he likes to wiggle about but he always has his tail wrapped around a finger until he is certain he can carry forward without falling. He is very curious (or he's looking for a hide lol) all...

Handling and Tameness - Page 2 -...

I am finding it interesting that snakes have definite personalities, as I was searching for my first corn I would drive the pet shops crazy. Holding many different snakes over many days, weeks, months until I found one that was comfortable with me to begin with, I let my lil one choose me. I have had different lizards and I know they had absolute personalities and so why would a snake be any different. I find my lil one crawls into my hand...

*update* I cleaned my snaked cage all the way out today and I did seem to find something that resembled poop lol. It all was in the same area of the tank so I guess I'll just start checking there in the future, thanks for all your help!

Super angry Snake at feeding time?

Could it be possible that she's in blue? My Granite becomes aggressive when feeding and even more so when about to shed. He always eats, though. Not always the case for all corns in blue, though.

As younger snakes, I've found the Sunkissed and even het Sunkissed to be more defensive (you can't really call it aggression if you think about it), but as adults, I find it is more of an individual thing versus morph related. In fact, I really don't have an aggressive/defensive adult corn (the bites I get are always mistaking my hand for dinner). I have some that are more flighty than others, ...

When they are pretty small it can be quite hard to spot their poop, especially on aspen or similar substrate, as they digest quite a lot of the pinky and there's not much excreted, but if and when you find it, it will look similar to a small bird poop, a little dark material and a little white-ish possibly powdery stuff and sometimes it will just be a smear on the substrate. Sometimes they even ...

Speaking of pointing their heads to the sky, I think it's hilarious when they get out of that position and oddly 'fall down' to the ground haha.

Hi..... Welcome to cs.com.. I would up the food size if it's eating three at a time.... How big is this snake? As for handling the snake, it thinks you are a predator so no wonder it runs... Just gently get the snake out and gently handle it..... It will calm down in time, just don't handle it for 48hrs after feeding...

Yes, this is all perfectly normal for a Corn Snake. Some get more active as they get older and more confident, but some like to stay hidden during the day and only venture out early morning, dusk or overnight. Bear in mind that your snake is very new. It can take weeks for them to settle into their new home - you just have to be patient and gentle, and see what happens. Mine spend most of ...

Don't worry! My snake ALWAYS feels cold when I take him out and he's perfectly fine. If you think about it, our core body temperature is much higher than the temperatures we keep our corns at, so it's natural that they would feel cold to us. That's also why it's important that the UTH doesn't feel warm to you - because if it's warm to you it's way too hot for your snake. Snakes brumate (...

As far as I know, they don't go in to heat like mammals do. I know that males do go into feeding strikes in breeding season (early spring, typically) but that is just over the duration of the breeding season. As for the snake cruising, the first thing I thought of was that it's hungry and/or the prey you're feeding it isn't big enough. The only other thing I can think of is that the temps are ...
