Good point Bama.
The primary reason, I think, is most people have
Dells, HPs or other major brand name PC and they do not have Windows disks. Hell, most people haven't even made their recovery disks.

We normally don't allow links for new members as we do not know what to expect when people sign up just to post links to their own sites. However, if you become a contributor, we'll allow it occasionally.

What are the specs for your system? Have you run any antivirus or
antispyware programs recently? Some of what you are doing can be cpu intensive depending on your specs.

Does the laptop meet the minimum requirements (memory, video, OS, etc)?

event viewer, which I assume is still present in Windows 7. It would be really stupid if Windows stopped logging itself. How to get there in Windows 7 is beyond me, because I have to wait till christmas to get the OS.

I agree that modern
Operating Systems do not need to be defragged--by modern I mean Vista and 7. XP was a wreck with data.
You do bring up good points with recovering data. Hopefully, people will have backups and will never have to resort to third-party recovery solutions for data. But as you said, the more the hdd is overwritten, the less likely you are to recover files. And the more your ...

Thanks for the heads up. I was not too sure how well
Clamwin worked, but if you recommend it I'll take your word.
Although I am wondering why you didn't use the regular addy. People post links here all the time, especially if it's a free download. And if it's a free download that's really useful then links are expected. As long as it's useful for pc repair that is.
