Since the disc is readable on other pcs, I would most likely suspect that the DVD drive is failing. Newegg.com - LG Black 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 16X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM SATA DVD Burner - Bulk - CD / DVD Burners

That is a SATA drive and I found the driver here http://global-download.acer.com/GDFi...hines&SC=PA_6E along with the other drivers for that model. If you are installing the OS manually, you'll see a screen in the beginning that says press F6 to install drivers--you'll need to do this first before you proceed with the rest of the installation. Maybe put that SATA driver on a floppy or a CD by itself and put it in when the...

I just looked at the emachines website, and t5452 wasnt even on the driver page, do you have the correct model nr? Or is it a pretty old machine? If you can open the machine, a IDE hard drive has a big 2" flat/thin cable, a Sata HD is 1/2" wide.

what i would recommend is that you try and play and audio cd and a dvd movie. that will determine if the dvd eye is shot. It in theory should play the audio cd fine but it should not play the dvd.

After the pictures were put on the disc was the session closed and the disc finalized? You can make a disc and choose not to close the session and finalize it if you want to add more to the disc later BUT this tends to cause problems with some drives when the try to read the disc. Personally on any type or R disc I try to go ahead and fill it up the first time and close the session because there ...

When does it give you the driver error? In the very beginning of installation? I ask because if this is a computer that has a SATA hard drive, you will need to get the harddrive driver from the actual hard drive manufacturer and press F6 in the very beginning of the install and provide that driver.
