It's not that we don't appreciate the reason for your request. But look at it from our perspective, we have no way to verify your story. Yesterday, my brother asked me to look at his computer because he couldn't connect to the internet. I took a look and realized he had viruses and the best solution would be to reformat. First you need to look in the BIOS and see is it recognizing and reporting a hard drive as being there. If it doesn't show a hard drive then Ms. Kitty somehow cause the drive to physically kick the bucket and yes then you will need a new HDD. The D drive contains the recovery partition. If you ever need to reformat the drive, this is where the data is. You should have a program called eRecovery.
