SINGER RETURNING TO THE X-MEN...
Published (2009-12-21 13:26:00)
Overall I understand everyone reluctance to accept this new development/production idea. Every movie has major hurdles to overcome while fans wait. Any previous films will generally be used as benchmarks for expectations regarding the future release whether they are good or bad. If the previous film was bad then the next one is generally assumed to be equally bad. If the previous film was good, exceptionally good, the sequel is generally...

SINGER RETURNING TO THE X-MEN...

I posted this in the News Briefs, but in Variety's article on the news, they actually talked with Singer about the film, and he said: "This is the formative years of Xavier and Magneto, and the formation of the school and where their relationship took a wrong turn. There is a romantic element, and some of the mutants from X-Men will figure into the plot, though I don't want to say which ones. There will be a lot of new mutants...

SINGER RETURNING TO THE X-MEN...

Perhaps a soft reboot is in order? I think X3 pushed ahead too far to the Phoenix saga, which was too rushed, not well done, and, frankly, pushed the boundaries of being kitsch. The X-movies seem to be less about solid storytelling, and more about shoving as many recognizable characters into the film at one time. Everyone gets a cameo. X3 certainly took that route, and Wolverine Origins came close. While X1 and X2 were fun, and we were excited...

Sounds good. Singer did a good job with the first two movies. Hopefully, this movie isn't as Wolverine-centric.

Waste of time. Lets be honest. Singer did a decent job but I dont think there is much you can do with a "first class" story that wont suck. For all its faults at least X3 took us forward. Now Fox only seems interest in looking back.

Marvel sold out to Disney, so Marvel movies made in house will be done by DISNEY from now on. As for the X-Men Movies, Disney could probably buy back the rights from Fox, or at least negotiate more control and influence. I think because of how X-Men 3 ended, that Fox decided they needed to simply reboot the franchise and start all over. I tend to agree.

There were some good moments in X1 and X2 (X3 was utter craptacular IMO), but overall, they ween't that great movies, especially when you think about the potential of the X-francise. A reboot is the only way to go I think, if only because of X3.

That should be good news. Singer has a good habbit of digging into the subject matter to add the layers needed for the film to work.

Awesome. There was obviously more in the "leaked" SDCC footage, but the images of Whiplash here are much better.

I'm wondering what the hell Branagh's thinking casting this Elba guy....
And of course, New Moon is going to make a ton of money, and at every showing, there will be packs of 12-16 year old girls screaming, "Oh My God!!! Edward!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!"
