The only things deified over here are charles dickens, shakespeare, and katie price. Comics are still not completely accepted as a medium of literature in the UK. If i speak to someone above the age of 30 about comics they will start talking about the Beano (cringes). And as for Gaiman being well-known. Different tastes and different markets. It seems only the horror/fantasy buffs seem to recall his name. Mostly associating him with Pratchett.

I've been meaning to read these for years and now that there are absolute editions I may do just that... as soon as I scrape together the cash
