Okay... I have been fielding a couple questions about the map, level of detail, authority, etc so I will just post this up here for everyone to see: Quote: Evening everyone. I just wanted to answer/clarify a couple things... 1) The 2005 Travel Management Rule dictated that all Forests and Grasslands must designate routes that are open to motorized travel. This process included open houses (such as the Boulder Ranger District one) as well as...

I have not been up there since September, I'm just saying if there was a place you could not get threw, that would be it. In the spring, this is the only area that takes longer to melt away. Try it anyway, worst case you head for Bunce School road.

Nice effort!
I notice there's no mention of the Box Elder Canyon road that parallels the Dolores above Dove Creek. The road network is threatened with closure by wilderness action, any chance of getting it noted on the map? If you drill down just north of Dove Creek (on hwy 491 between Cortez & the Utah line) you'll see the road running along the Dolores river. Rafters & kayakers call it "...

I was up there Thanksgiving, start in the park and not at the first entrance, the steep hills at the beginning are too slick. Pierson Park had a lot of snow, could go south to north but coming back south you would need a winch to get up the hills, even in a quad. I was driving a Jeep Unlimited Rubicon. hope this helps a little. you should use chains.

its gonna be nasty. I am going to assume there is well over a foot of snow
up there, and with it being in the shade, and as cold as it is here, its
not going to be any fun for a while.
