Wasn't the mechanical version the 3106? I thought that 3126 was introduced when it went electronic. Either one is pretty slow for pulling, relative to the Cummins.

Correct but it is a 3116. On highway trucks only used the electronic 3126. There are MUI 3126's but they were put in construction, marine and industrial applications. I didnt want to add confussion but if I was going to buy a truck and it...

i would take a cummins 8.3l 'C' any day..... mechanical injection and nothing to go wrong. My buddy runs a 8.3l ISC in his '99 Dutchstar and it does pretty good pulling the hills. I think it's a 325 horse motor.

Finally got the Leveling kit on...
Published (2009-11-08 17:33:00)
I finally got some time to work on my own junk. I installed the RE 2.5" Leveling kit which raised it about 3.5" in front. I went with the new Goodyear Duratracs for tires and Motometal 951 wheels. I had a crew of buddies over and even with airtools it took us about 5 hours to complete with alignment. I'm pretty happy with the outcome. Before! After!

Ugh, that sucks. 9 times out of 10, I end up at my local Safeway for diesel. Cheapest prices around and I've never had a problem with it. Sorry about your rotten luck.

Look closely for water damage everywhere. If you find any walk away. I have a 99 Lance 845 and it works very well for us. 2 people in it are very comfortable and 3 are OK. It's not fancy like the newer ones but it was a lot cheaper than a new one. I have owned a pop up we towed behind the Jeep, then a motor home with the Jeep on a trailer, and now a truck camper with the Jeep on a trailer....

Take the boot off, remove the bolts that hold the shifter onto the case and look inside for starters. You should be able to see how the shifter engages the sliding gears pretty easily.

Personally, I kinda like the smell of diesel exhaust. I bought a '00 Cummins today with a step-up level of injectors, so it gives off a yummy smell at idle......However, while checking out the truck, I pulled the cigarette lighter and checked out the ashtray to verify non-smoker status
