Yep, I can sure do that, I will get you a few diff measurements while Im there. Im not sure how thick the sae adaptors are, you would have to spec that with cummins, but I will get ya to the back of the block, and the back of the getrag adaptor thats on mine, I dont think the bell is going to help you, as they are all different sizes..

Bob, A great resource is a guy I happened upon in Broomfield. His shop is right near S&S Teller (off Teller and 120th). His shop is "De-stroked". Specializes in Cummins -> Ford conversion but is all knowing in Cummins motors. He's got a few blocks that you can look at too for your size comparisons and some trannies that match up. His name is Scott. I'd suggest dropping by and stealing some brain...

I wanna say that #2 and #7 injector harnesses have probs due to vibration and eventually fail. But, will cause misfires and not a no start condition. So id start with scanning it and see what you have for codes.....

Don't know about the 24v but the 12v into a chebby has been tackled many times. PM Mobcore 911 on here to ask about his swap into a K30. Also, 4btswaps.com is your friend.

cummings drive train to a chevy?

These folks up in MT have done some major 24v repowers and tackled some Ford 6.0 wiring to 24v cummins wiring. Most use manual trannies (see the list and description of their projects) but there are a few auto's hiding in there. http://www.autoworldmt.com/Page_11.html shows a wiring harness/controller you might be able to use. Not cheap, but perhaps quite worth it. I've not done business with them, but they sure offered good advice...

make sure you have fuel pressure. 03's are prone to having the probe valve leak air (loosing fuel pressure) just above the fuel filter. press the valve button several times and see if any fuel dumps out or you hear air escaping in the general vicinity.

2000 PSD 170k miles, long write up.
Published (2009-11-23 08:38:00)
Well this past week (end) I changed out a handful of parts on my truck, a 2000 CC PSD with 170k miles. Wicked wheel to get rid of turbo surge, glow plugs and I replaced my up pipes and new Chevy doughnut gaskets, I also removed the foil from the intercooler tube. A few things to note during this process. The wicked wheel does produce more noise, I dont mind it, its definitely very high pitched. Be careful removing the foil on the intercooler...

Here are the gory details, for those who know this build: What I'm coming up against are a few factors.
The 5 speed (Spicer6855) I threw behind the 3208 is great, and definitely keeps top driveable speed of the truck within the engine RPM at max gearing, but the big splits dictated by a 5 speed with a .695 OD top gear are killing me, especially since first gear is so low that you basically ...

Take the boot off, remove the bolts that hold the shifter onto the case and look inside for starters. You should be able to see how the shifter engages the sliding gears pretty easily.

I dunno, your old one wasn't a slouch. Of course, if you'd just kept it you wouldn't have to build another one now either.

go with the Cummins, or an IH dt466. The small kitty cats are slow.
